Historical Prologue

³⁷ Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, You also shall not go in there. ³⁸  But Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. ³⁹ Moreover your little ones, who you said should be a prey, and your children, who in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in there, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

Numbers 14:30

Doubtless you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore to make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

Joshua 1:1

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spoke unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shall you divide for an inheritance the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give them.
