4 Their names were Oholah the elder and Oholibah her sister. And they became Mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And as for their names, Samaria is Oholah and Jerusalem is Oholibah.
4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.

7 Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.

14 "She became even more sexually immoral when she saw the images of the Chaldean men who had been carved in red on their walls.

15 girded with belts on their loins, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them looking like officers, (i)like the (j)Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their birth.

16 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

19 Yet she multiplied her harlotries, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

19 "Nevertheless, she became even more sexually immoral, even reminiscing about when she was young, when she kept on practicing sexual immorality in the land of Egypt.

20 She (R)lusted after their paramours, whose flesh is like the flesh of donkeys and whose issue is like the issue of horses.
20 For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.
20 and lusted after their lovers, whose sexual members were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of stallions.

24 And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.
24 They will come against you with an alliance of nations and with weapons, chariots, and(d) wagons. They will set themselves against you on every side with shields, bucklers, and helmets. I will delegate judgment to them, and they will judge you by their own standards.
24 ""They'll invade you with weapons, chariots, wagons, and a vast army. They'll set themselves in place to attack you from every direction with large shields, small shields, and helmets. I'll turn over judgment to them, and they'll punish you according to their own standards.
24 They will come against you with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a company of people (infantry) who will array themselves against you on every side with large shield and small, and helmet; and I will commit the judgment and the punishment to them, and they will judge and punish you in accordance with their [pagan] customs.
25 I will set My (Z)jealousy against you, that they may deal with you in wrath. They will remove your nose and your ears; and your (w)survivors will fall by the sword. They will take your (AA)sons and your daughters; and your (x)survivors will be consumed by the fire.
25 And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.
25 When I vent My jealous rage on you,(O) they will deal with you in wrath. They will cut off your nose and ears, and your descendants will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your descendants will be consumed by fire.
25 I'll expend my jealousy on you so they'll deal with you in anger. They'll cut off your noses and your ears. Your survivors will die violently. They'll take your sons and daughters away from you, but your survivors will be incinerated.
25 I will set My jealous indignation against you [demanding what is rightfully and uniquely mine], and they will deal with you in fury. They will remove your nose and your ears, and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will take your sons and your daughters; and the survivors will be devoured by the fire.
27 Thus (AD)I will make your lewdness and your harlotry brought from the land of Egypt to cease from you, so that you will not lift up your eyes to them or remember Egypt anymore.’
27 Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.
27 So I will put an end to your indecency and sexual immorality, which began in the land of Egypt, and you will not look longingly at them or remember Egypt anymore.
27 That's how I'll put an end to your obscene conduct and sexual immorality that you kept on practicing since the day you left the land of Egypt so that you won't look in Egypt's direction or even remember it anymore.'
27 Thus I will put an end to your lewdness and your prostitution brought from the land of Egypt, so that you will not lift up your eyes to them or remember Egypt [with longing] anymore.’
28 For thus says the Lord God, ‘Behold, I will give you into the hand of those whom you (AE)hate, into the hand of those from whom (y)you were alienated.
28 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated:
28 “For this is what the Lord God says: I am going to hand you over to those you hate, to those you turned away from in disgust.
28 "This is what the Lord GOD says, "I'm about to turn you over to the control of those you hate, to the control of those from whom you turned away in disgust.
28 For thus says the Lord God, ‘Behold, I will place you into the hands of those whom you hate, into the hands of those from whom you turned away in disgust.
29 They will (AF)deal with you in hatred, take all your property, and leave you naked and bare. And the nakedness of your harlotries will be uncovered, both your lewdness and your harlotries.
29 And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.
29 They will treat you with hatred, take all you have worked for, and leave you stark naked,(Q) so that the shame of your debauchery will be exposed, both your indecency and promiscuity.
29 They'll deal with you with hatred. They'll take away your productivity, leaving you naked and defenseless, so that the nakedness of your sexual immorality will be uncovered your licentious sexual immorality.
29 They will deal with you in hatred, take all your property, and leave you naked and bare. And the nakedness of your depravity will be uncovered, both your lewdness and your obscene practices.
30 These things will be done to you because you have (AG)played the harlot with the nations, because you have defiled yourself with their idols.
30 I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.
30 These things will be done to you because you acted like a prostitute with the nations,(R) defiling yourself with their idols.
30 These things will happen to you because of your sexual immorality that was patterned after what the nations do. You've been defiled by their idols.
30 These things will be done to you because you have prostituted yourself with the [Gentile] nations, because you have defiled yourself with their idols.
32 Thus says the Lord God,‘You will (AI)drink your sister’s cup,Which is deep and wide.(z)You will be (AJ)laughed at and held in derision;It contains much.
32 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much.
32 This is what the Lord God says:You will drink your sister’s cup,(T)which is deep and wide.You will be an object of(e) ridicule and scorn,for it holds so much.(U)
32 "This is what the Lord GOD says: "You'll drink from your sister's cup, which is both large and deep. You'll become a laughing stock and an object of derision, since the cup is so full!

34 ‘You will (AL)drink it and drain it.Then you will gnaw its fragmentsAnd tear your breasts;for I have spoken,’ declares the Lord God.
34 Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

35 Therefore, thus says the Lord God, ‘Because you have (AM)forgotten Me and (AN)cast Me behind your back, bear now the punishment of your lewdness and your harlotries.’”
35 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.
35 Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: “Because you have forgotten Me(V) and cast Me behind your back,(W) you must bear the consequences of your indecency and promiscuity.”
35 "Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: "Because you abandoned me and threw me behind your back, you will bear the consequences of your obscene conduct and sexual immorality.'"
35 Therefore, thus says the Lord God, ‘Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, therefore bear now [the consequences of] your lewdness and prostitution.’”
36 Moreover, the Lord said to me, “Son of man, will you (AO)judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then (AP)declare to them their abominations.
36 The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;
36 Then the Lord said to me: “Son of man, will you pass judgment against Oholah and Oholibah?(X) Then declare their detestable practices to them.(Y)
36 Then the LORD spoke to me. "Son of Man, speak out in judgment of both Oholah and Oholibah. Make their detestable practices widely known,
36 Moreover, the Lord said to me, “Son of man, will you judge Oholah (Samaria, capital of Israel) and Oholibah (Jerusalem, capital of Judah)? Then inform them of their atrocities [the detestable and vile things they do].
37 For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands. Thus they have committed adultery with their idols and even caused their sons, (AQ)whom they bore to Me, to pass through the fire to (aa)them as food.
37 That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.

38 Again, they have done this to Me: they have (AR)defiled My sanctuary on the same day and have (AS)profaned My sabbaths.

39 When they killed their sons as offerings to their idols, they brought them to my sanctuary and defiled it. Look what they've done with my Temple!

40 “Furthermore, (ab)they have even sent for men who come from afar, to whom a messenger was sent; and lo, they came—for whom you bathed, (AU)painted your eyes and (AV)decorated yourselves with ornaments;
40 And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,
40 “In addition, they sent for men who came from far away when a messenger was dispatched to them. And look how they came! You bathed, painted your eyes,(AD) and adorned yourself with jewelry for them.(AE)

42 The sound of a (ac)(BA)carefree multitude was with her; and (BB)drunkards were brought from the wilderness with men of the (ad)common sort. And they put (BC)bracelets on (ae)the hands of the women and beautiful crowns on their heads.
42 And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.
42 The sound of a carefree crowd was there. Drunkards(f) from the desert were brought in, along with common men. They put bracelets on the women’s hands and beautiful crowns on their heads.
42 The sound of a carefree multitude accompanied her. Men from a multitude of nations were coming including Sabeans from the wilderness, adorned with bracelets on their hands and beautiful crowns on their heads.
42 The sound of a carefree crowd was with her; and drunkards were brought from the wilderness with men of a common sort, who put bracelets on the hands of the women (both sisters) and beautiful crowns on their heads.
43 “Then I said concerning her who was (BD)worn out by adulteries, ‘(af)Will they now commit adultery with her when she is thus?’
43 Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?
43 Then I said concerning this woman worn out by adultery: Will they now have illicit sex with her, even her?
43 "After she had worn herself out by her adulterous behavior, I asked her, "Will they continue with their sexual immorality and with their prostitution?'
43 “Then I said concerning the one (Oholah) worn out by adulteries, ‘Will they now commit adultery with her when she is like this?’
44 (ag)But they went in to her as they would go in to a harlot. Thus they went in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the lewd women.
44 Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.
44 Yet they had sex with her as one does with a prostitute. This is how they had sex with Oholah and Oholibah, those obscene women.
44 They've gone to her, like men do, to have sex with a prostitute. They had sex with Oholah and Oholibah, those licentious women.
44 But they committed adultery with her as they would with a prostitute. So they went in to Oholah (Israel) and to Oholibah (Judah), the lewd women.
45 But they, righteous men, will (BE)judge them with the judgment of adulteresses and with the judgment of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.
45 And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
45 But righteous men will judge them the way adulteresses(AG) and those who shed blood are judged, for they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.
45 Righteous men will judge them with punishments fit for adulterers and for those who shed blood, because they're adulterers with blood on their hands."
45 And they, righteous men, will judge and condemn them with the judgment (punishment) of adulteresses and with the judgment of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.
46 “For thus says the Lord God, ‘Bring up a company against them and give them over to (BF)terror and plunder.
46 For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled.
46 “This is what the Lord God says: Summon(g) an assembly against them and consign them to terror and plunder.(AH)
46 This is what the Lord GOD says: "Bring an army against them and deliver them over to terror and plunder.
46 “For thus says the Lord God, ‘Bring up a horde (mob) against them and hand them over to terror and plunder.
47 The company will (BG)stone them with stones and cut them down with their swords; they will slay their sons and their daughters and (BH)burn their houses with fire.
47 And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
47 The assembly will stone them and cut them down with their swords.(AI) They will kill their sons and daughters and burn their houses with fire.
47 Then the army will stone them with stones and cut them to pieces with their swords. They'll kill their sons and daughters and incinerate their houses.
47 And the horde will stone them with stones and cut them down with their swords; they will kill their sons and their daughters and burn down their houses with fire.
48 Thus I will make lewdness cease from the land, that all women may be admonished and not commit (ah)lewdness as you have done.
48 Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.
48 So I will put an end to indecency in the land, and all the women will be admonished not to imitate your indecent behavior.
48 I'll cause obscene conduct to stop throughout the land, because all the women will be admonished not to practice their obscene conduct.
48 Thus I will make lewdness cease from the land, that all women may be admonished and taught not to commit immoral acts as you have done.
49 Your lewdness (ai)will be (BI)requited upon you, and you will bear the penalty of worshiping your idols; thus you will know that I am the Lord God.’”
49 And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
49 They will repay you for your indecency,(AJ) and you will bear the consequences for your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.”
49 You'll receive the consequences for your obscene conduct and bear the punishment for your sins of idolatry. Then you'll know that I am the Lord GOD."
49 Thus your lewdness will be repaid to you, and you will suffer the penalty for your [sinful] idolatry; and you will know [without any doubt] that I am the Lord God.’”
