The Addition Of The Law

²¹ God, however, is only one. Is the Law then opposed to the promises of God? No, indeed; for if a Law had been given which could have conferred Life, righteousness would certainly have come by the Law. ²² But Scripture has shown that all mankind are the prisoners of sin, in order that the promised blessing, which depends on faith in Jesus Christ, may be given to those who believe. ²³ Before this faith came, we Jews were perpetual prisoners under the Law, living under restraints and limitations in preparation for the faith which was soon to be revealed.

But in accordance with His promise we are expecting new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness will dwell.

1 John 2:25

And this is the promise which He Himself has given us--the Life of the Ages.

And this is His command--that we are to believe in His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as He has commanded us to do.

And that testimony is to the effect that God has given us the Life of the Ages, and that this Life is in His Son.
