Genesis 1:2

The Creation

¹ In the beginning God (Elohim) created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth. ² The earth was formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep [primeval ocean that covered the unformed earth]. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. ³ And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

Psalm 104:30

You send out Your Spirit, they are created;
You renew the face of the ground.

Jeremiah 4:23

I looked at the earth [in my vision], and behold, it was [as at the time of creation] formless and void;
And to the heavens, and they had no light.

“It is He who spreads out the north over emptiness
And hangs the earth on nothing.

Isaiah 45:18

For the Lord, who created the heavens (He is God, who formed the earth and made it; He established it and did not create it to be a wasteland, but formed it to be inhabited) says this,

“I am the Lord, and there is no one else.

“Yet these are just the fringes of His ways [mere samples of His power],
The faintest whisper of His voice!
Who can contemplate the thunder of His [full] mighty power?”

Psalm 33:6

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made,
And all their host by the breath of His mouth.

Isaiah 40:12-14

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
And marked off the heavens with a span [of the hand],
And calculated the dust of the earth with a measure,
And weighed the mountains in a balance
And the hills in a pair of scales?
