Genesis 44:19

Joseph Tests His Brothers

¹⁸ Judah went up to Joseph and said: Please, Sir, let me speak openly with you. Do not be angry with me, although you are equal to Pharaoh. ¹⁹ My lord asked his servants, saying, ‘Have you a father or a brother?’ ²⁰ We answered, 'We have a father who is old and a younger brother born to him when he was already old. The boy's brother is dead. He is the only one of his mother's sons left, and his father loves him.'

Lord Said

Genesis 43:7

They answered: The man kept asking about our family and us. He asked, 'Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?' We simply answered his questions. How could we possibly know he would say, 'Bring your brother here'?

Genesis 42:7-10

Joseph recognized his brothers the moment he saw them. Even so, he acted as if he did not know them and spoke harshly to them: Where did you come from? They answered: From Canaan, to buy food.

Genesis 43:29

Joseph looked around and saw his brother Benjamin. He said: This must be the youngest brother you told me about. God bless you, my son.
