1 King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came against Jerusalem with his whole army and laid siege to it. The siege began in the tenth month of the ninth year that Zedekiah ruled over Judah.
1 (a)Now when Jerusalem was captured (b)(A)in the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came to Jerusalem and laid siege to it;
1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon advanced against Jerusalem with his entire army and laid siege to it.
1 This is how Jerusalem was captured: In the tenth month of the ninth year of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came to Jerusalem and laid siege to it.
2 It lasted until the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah's eleventh year. On that day they broke through the city walls.

3 Then Nergal-Sharezer of Samgar, Nebo-Sarsekim, who was a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer, who was a high official, and all the other officers of the king of Babylon came and set up quarters in the Middle Gate.
3 Then all the (C)officials of the king of Babylon came in and sat down at the (D)Middle Gate: Nergal-sar-ezer, Samgar-nebu, Sar-sekim the (c)Rab-saris, Nergal-sar-ezer the (d)Rab-mag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.
3 And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.
3 All the officials of the king of Babylon entered and sat at the Middle Gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar, Nebusarsechim(a) the Rab-saris, Nergal-sharezer the Rab-mag, and all the rest of the officials of Babylon’s king.
3 All the officials of the king of Babylon came and sat in the Middle Gate, including Nergal-sarri-usur, governor of Sinmagir, Nabu-sarrussu-ukin the high official, Nergal-sarri-user, the chief official, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.
4 When King Zedekiah of Judah and all his soldiers saw them, they tried to escape. They departed from the city during the night. They took a path through the king's garden and passed out through the gate between the two walls. Then they headed for the Jordan Valley.
4 When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, they (E)fled and went out of the city at night by way of the king’s garden through the gate (F)between the two walls; and he went out toward the (e)Arabah.
4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
4 When he saw them, Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s garden through the gate between the two walls. They left along the route to the Arabah.(A)

5 But the Babylonian army chased after them. They caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho and captured him. They took him to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon at Riblah in the territory of Hamath and Nebuchadnezzar passed sentence on him there.
5 But the army of the (G)Chaldeans pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the (H)plains of Jericho; and they seized him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at (I)Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passed sentence on him.
5 But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
5 However, the Chaldean army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains(b) of Jericho, arrested him, and brought him to Nebuchadnezzar, Babylon’s king, at Riblah in the land of Hamath. The king passed sentence on him there.

6 There at Riblah the king of Babylon had Zedekiah's sons put to death while Zedekiah was forced to watch. The king of Babylon also had all the nobles of Judah put to death.
6 Then the (J)king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah (K)before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylon also slew all the (L)nobles of Judah.

7 Then he had Zedekiah's eyes put out and had him bound in chains to be led off to Babylon.
7 He then (M)blinded Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in (N)fetters of bronze to bring him to (O)Babylon.
7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

8 The Babylonians burned down the royal palace, the temple of the Lord, and the people's homes, and they tore down the wall of Jerusalem.
8 The Chaldeans also (P)burned with fire the king’s palace and the houses of the people, and they (Q)broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
8 And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
8 The Chaldeans next burned down the king’s palace and the people’s houses and tore down the walls of Jerusalem.
8 The Chaldeans burned the palace and the houses of the people with fire, and they broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
9 Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard, took captive the rest of the people who were left in the city. He carried them off to Babylon along with the people who had deserted to him.
9 As for the rest of the people who were left in the city, the (f)(R)deserters who had gone over to him and (S)the rest of the people who remained, (T)Nebuzaradan the (U)captain of the bodyguard carried them into exile in Babylon.
9 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.
9 Nebuzaradan, the commander of the guards,(C) deported the rest of the people to Babylon—those who had remained in the city and those deserters who had defected to him along with the rest of the people who had remained.
9 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the Babylonian guard, took into exile in Babylon the rest of the people who remained in the city, those who had deserted to Nebuchadnezzar, and the rest of the people who remained.
10 But he left behind in the land of Judah some of the poor people who owned nothing. He gave them fields and vineyards at that time.
10 But some of the (V)poorest people who had nothing, (W)Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard left behind in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields (g)at that time.
10 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
10 However, Nebuzaradan, the commander of the guards, left in the land of Judah some of the poor people who owned nothing, and he gave them vineyards and fields at that time.(D)
10 Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left in the land of Judah some of the poor people who did not have anything, and he gave them vineyards and fields on that day.
11 Now King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had issued orders concerning Jeremiah. He had passed them on through Nebuzaradan, the captain of his royal guard,
11 Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon gave orders about (X)Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard, saying,
11 Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,
11 Speaking through Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon gave orders concerning Jeremiah, saying:

12 "Find Jeremiah and look out for him. Do not do anything to harm him, but do with him whatever he tells you."
12 “Take him and (h)look after him, and (Y)do nothing harmful to him, but rather deal with him just as he tells you.”
12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.
12 “Take him, look after him, and don’t let any harm come to him; do for him whatever he says.”

13 So Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard, Nebushazban, who was a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer, who was a high official, and all the other officers of the king of Babylon
13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard sent word, along with Nebushazban the (i)Rab-saris, and Nergal-sar-ezer the (j)Rab-mag, and all the leading officers of the king of Babylon;
13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;
13 Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, Nebushazban the Rab-saris, Nergal-sharezer the Rab-mag, and all the captains of the king of Babylon
13 So Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, Nebushazban, the high official, Nergal-sar-ezer, the chief official, and all the officials of the king of Babylon sent for Jeremiah.
14 sent and had Jeremiah brought from the courtyard of the guardhouse. They turned him over to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam and the grandson of Shaphan, to take him home with him. But Jeremiah stayed among the people.
14 they even sent and (Z)took Jeremiah out of the court of the guardhouse and entrusted him to (AA)Gedaliah, the son of (AB)Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him home. So he stayed among the people.
14 Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
14 had Jeremiah brought from the guard’s courtyard(E) and turned him over to Gedaliah(F) son of Ahikam,(G) son of Shaphan, to take him home. So he settled among his own people.
14 They sent for Jeremiah and took him from the courtyard of the guard. They handed him over to Ahikam's son Gedaliah, the grandson of Shaphan, to take him home. So he remained among the people.
15 Now the Lord had spoken to Jeremiah while he was still confined in the courtyard of the guardhouse,
15 Now the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah while he was (AC)confined in the court of the guardhouse, saying,
15 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
15 This message from the LORD came to Jeremiah while he was confined in the courtyard of the guard:
16 "Go and tell Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, 'The Lord God of Israel who rules over all says, "I will carry out against this city what I promised. It will mean disaster and not good fortune for it. When that disaster happens, you will be there to see it.
16 “Go and speak to (AD)Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “Behold, I am about to bring My words on this city (AE)for disaster and not for (k)prosperity; and they will (AF)take place before you on that day.
16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.
16 “Go tell Ebed-melech the Cushite:(I) This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I am about to fulfill My words for harm and not for good against this city. They will take place before your eyes on that day.
16 "Go and speak to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian: "This is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, the God of Israel, says: "Look, I'm going to fulfill my promise against this city for disaster rather than for good, and on that day it will happen before your eyes.
17 But I will rescue you when it happens. I, the Lord, affirm it! You will not be handed over to those whom you fear.
17 But I will (AG)deliver you on that day,” declares the Lord, “and you will not be given into the hand of the men whom you dread.
17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
17 But I will rescue you on that day”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“and you will not be handed over to the men you fear.
17 But I'll deliver you on that day," declares the LORD. "You won't be given into the hands of the men you fear.
18 I will certainly save you. You will not fall victim to violence. You will escape with your life because you trust in me. I, the Lord, affirm it!"'"
18 For I will certainly rescue you, and you will not fall by the sword; but you will have your own (AH)life as booty, because you have (AI)trusted in Me,” declares the Lord.’”
18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.
18 Indeed, I will certainly deliver you so that you do not fall by the sword. Because you have trusted in Me, you will keep your life like the spoils of war.”(J) This is the Lord’s declaration.
18 For I'll surely deliver you, and you won't fall by the sword. Your life will be spared because you trusted me," declares the LORD.'"
