The Burnt Offering

1 Then (A)the Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying,

1 And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

1 Then the Lord summoned Moses(A) and spoke to him from the tent of meeting:(B)

1 The LORD told Moses from the middle of the Tent of Meeting,

1 The Lord (a)called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying,

2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When any man of you brings an (a)(B)offering to the Lord, you shall bring your (b)offering of animals from (C)the herd or the flock.

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.

2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any of you brings an offering to the Lord from the livestock, you(a) may bring your offering from the herd or the flock.

2 "Speak to the Israelis and tell them that when any person brings an offering to the LORD from among you, whether he brings on offering of animals from either cattle or flock,

2 “Speak to the (b)children of Israel and say to them, ‘When any one of you brings an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of [domestic] animals from the herd (cattle, oxen) or from the flock (sheep, goats).

Burnt Offering Regulations: Animal From The Herd

3 If his offering is a (D)burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer it, a male (E)without defect; he shall offer it (F)at the doorway of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord.

3 If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.

3 “If his gift is a burnt offering(C) from the herd, he is to bring an unblemished male.(D) He must bring it to the entrance to the tent of meeting so that he(b) may be accepted by the Lord.(E)

3 if his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to bring a male without any defect. He is to present it at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. At the appointed time, it is to be presented in the presence of the LORD so that he may be accepted.

3 If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it at the doorway of the Tent of Meeting so that he may be accepted before the Lord.(A)

4 (G)He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, that it may be accepted for him to make (H)atonement on his behalf.

4 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.

4 He is to lay his hand on(F) the head of the burnt offering so it can be accepted(G) on his behalf to make atonement for him.(H)

4 He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted for him as an atonement on his behalf.

4 He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering [transferring symbolically his guilt to the sacrifice], that it may be (c)accepted for him to make atonement on his behalf.(B)

5 (I)He shall slay the (c)young bull before the Lord; and Aaron’s sons the priests shall offer up (J)the blood and (K)sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting.

5 And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

5 He is to slaughter the bull before the Lord; Aaron’s sons the priests(I) are to present the blood(J) and sprinkle it(K) on all sides of the altar that is at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

5 Then he is to slaughter the young bull in the LORD's presence."

5 He shall kill the young bull before the Lord; and Aaron’s sons the priests shall present the blood and sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the Tent of Meeting.

6 (L)He shall then skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces.

6 And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces.

6 Then he must skin the burnt offering(L) and cut it into pieces.(c)

6 "Aaron's sons, the priests, are to bring the blood and sprinkle it around the altar that stands at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. He is to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.

6 Then he shall skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.

7 (M)The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.

7 And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:

7 The sons of Aaron the priest will prepare a fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.

7 Aaron's sons, the priests, are to build a fire on the altar and arrange the wood over the fire.

7 The sons of Aaron the [high] priest shall put fire on the altar [of burnt offering] and arrange wood on the fire.

8 Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, the head and the (N)suet over the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar.

8 And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

8 Aaron’s sons the priests are to arrange the pieces, the head, and the suet(M) on top of the burning wood on the altar.

8 They are to arrange the pieces of meat including the head and the fat on the wood over the fire that burns on the altar.

8 Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, the head and the fat, on the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar.

9 Its (O)entrails, however, and its legs he shall wash with water. And (P)the priest shall offer up in smoke all of it on the altar for a burnt offering, an offering by fire of (Q)a soothing aroma to the Lord.

9 But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

9 The offerer must wash its entrails(N) and shanks(O) with water. Then the priest will burn all of it on the altar as a burnt offering, a fire offering(P) of a pleasing aroma(Q) to the Lord.

9 Then he is to wash its entrails and legs with water. After this, the priest is to offer all of it on the altar a burnt offering by fire, an aroma that will be pleasing to the LORD."

9 But he shall wash its entrails and its legs with water. The priest shall offer all of it up in smoke on the altar as a burnt offering. It is an offering by fire, a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.(C)

Animal From The Flock

10 ‘But if his offering is from the flock, of the sheep or of the goats, for a burnt offering, he shall offer it a (R)male without defect.

10 And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.

10 “But if his gift for a burnt offering is from the flock, from sheep or goats,(R) he is to present an unblemished male.

10 "If his offering is a burnt offering from the flock, whether lamb or goat, he is to bring a male without any defect

10 ‘But if his offering is from the flock, of the sheep or of the goats, as a burnt offering, he shall offer a male without blemish.

11 (S)He shall slay it on the side of the altar northward before the Lord, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar.

11 And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.

11 He will slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the Lord. Aaron’s sons the priests will sprinkle its blood against the altar on all sides.

11 and slaughter it at the north side of the altar in the LORD's presence. Then Aaron's sons, the priests, are to sprinkle its blood around the altar.

11 He shall kill it on the north side of the altar before the Lord, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar.

12 He shall then cut it into its pieces with its head and its (T)suet, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar.

12 And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

12 He will cut the animal into pieces(d) with its head and its suet, and the priest will arrange them on top of the burning wood on the altar.

12 He is to cut up its head and fat into separate pieces arrange them in rows on the wood over the fire that burns on the altar,

12 He shall cut it into pieces, with its head and its fat, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar.

13 The entrails, however, and the legs he shall wash with water. And (U)the priest shall offer all of it, and offer it up in smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord.

13 But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

13 But he is to wash the entrails and shanks with water. The priest will then present all of it and burn it on the altar; it is a burnt offering, a fire offering of a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

13 wash its entrails and legs with water, and then offer all of it on the altar a burnt offering by fire, an aroma that will be pleasing to the LORD."

13 But he shall wash the entrails and legs with water. The priest shall offer all of it, and offer it up in smoke on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.

From The Birds

14 ‘But if his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring his offering from the (V)turtledoves or from young pigeons.

14 And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.

14 “If his gift to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds,(S) he is to present his offering from the turtledoves(T) or young pigeons.(e)(U)

14 "If his offering is a burnt offering of birds to the LORD, he is to bring turtledoves or young doves.

14 ‘But if his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring turtledoves or young pigeons as his offering.

15 The priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off its head and offer it up in smoke on the altar; and its blood is to be drained out (W)on the side of the altar.

15 And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar:

15 Then the priest must bring it to the altar, and must twist off its head and burn it on the altar; its blood should be drained at the side of the altar.

15 The priest is to bring it to the altar to offer it up in smoke. He is to decapitate it and drain its blood on the side of the altar,

15 The priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off its head, and offer it up in smoke on the altar; and its blood is to be drained out on the side of the altar.

16 He shall also take away its crop with its feathers and cast it beside the altar eastward, to the place of the (d)(X)ashes.

16 And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:

16 He will remove its digestive tract,(f) cutting off the tail feathers, and throw it on the east side of the altar at the place for ashes.(V)

16 and then he is to eviscerate it and throw the viscera and the feathers to the east side of the altar, where the fatty ashes are located.

16 He shall remove its (d)crop with its feathers and throw it next to the east side of the altar, in the place for ashes.

17 Then he shall tear it by its wings, but (Y)shall not sever it. And the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar on the wood which is on the fire; (Z)it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord.

17 And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

17 He will tear it open by its wings without dividing the bird.(W) Then the priest is to burn it on the altar on top of the burning wood. It is a burnt offering, a fire offering of a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

17 He is then to tear it open by its wings, but not divide it completely into two parts. The priest is then to offer all of it on the wood over the fire as a burnt offering by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD."

17 Then he shall tear it open by its wings, but shall not sever it. And the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.
