Punishment For Disobedience

²⁹ You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters. ³⁰ I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars, and I will stack your dead bodies on top of the lifeless bodies of your idols. I will abhor you. ³¹ I will lay your cities waste and make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will refuse to smell your soothing aromas.

2 Kings 23:20

He sacrificed all the priests of the high places on the altars located there, and burned human bones on them. Then he returned to Jerusalem.

Isaiah 27:9

So in this way Jacob's sin will be forgiven, and this is how they will show they are finished sinning: They will make all the stones of the altars like crushed limestone, and the Asherah poles and the incense altars will no longer stand.

Ezekiel 6:3-6

1 Kings 13:2

2 Kings 23:8

When Josiah turned around, he saw the tombs there on the hill. So he ordered the bones from the tombs to be brought; he burned them on the altar and defiled it. This fulfilled the Lord's announcement made by the prophet while Jeroboam stood by the altar during a festival. King Josiah turned and saw the grave of the prophet who had foretold this.

He removed the pagan altars and the high places, smashed the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles.
