1 When the Sabbath had ended, Mary of Magdala, Mary, James's mother, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint Him. 2 It was very early, just after the sun had risen, on the first day of the week, when they went to the tomb. 3 And they kept saying to one another, "Who will roll the boulder back from the doorway of the tomb for us?" 4 Then they looked up and saw that the boulder had already been rolled to one side, for it was a very large one. 5 And when they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting at the right; and they were utterly astounded.
6 But he said to them, "You must not be so astounded; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified. He has risen; He is not here. See! Here is the spot where they laid Him. 7 But you go and tell His disciples and Peter, 'He is going back to Galilee to meet you; you will see Him there, just as He told you.'"
8 Then they left the tomb and fled, for they were trembling and bewildered, and they did not tell anybody a single thing about it, for they were afraid to do so.
9 Now after He had risen, early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary of Magdala, out of whom He had driven seven demons. 10 She went out and told it to His disciples, while they were mourning and weeping. 11 But although they had heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. 12 After this He showed Himself in a different form to two of them as they were walking along, on their way into the country. 13 Then they went back and told the rest, but they would not believe them either.
14 Later on He appeared to the Eleven themselves while they were at table, and reproved them for their lack of faith and their stubbornness, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had been raised from the dead. 15 Then He said to them, "You must go all over the world and preach the good news to all the creation. 16 He who believes it and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe it will be condemned. 17 And the following signs will attend those who believe: By using my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in foreign languages; 18 they will take snakes in their hands; even if they drink anything poisonous, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well."
19 So the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was caught up into heaven and took His seat at God's right hand. 20 Then they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept on working with them and confirming their message by the signs that attended it.
