If ye forsake the LORD and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt and consume you, after he has done you good.

Therefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that have taken rule over this people which is in Jerusalem.

And it came to pass as they brought them forth outside, that he said, Escape; for thy soul, do not look behind thee, neither stop thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

For those that are of the Christ have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts.

I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

For if ye are dead with the Christ to the elements of the world, why, as though living unto the world, do ye decree rites,

he himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose wound ye were healed.

This is a faithful word: That if we are dead with him, we shall also live with him;

Likewise also reckon yourselves to be truly dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ, Jesus, our Lord.

No, in no wise. How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?

For he that is dead is justified from sin.

For ye are dead and your life is hid with the Christ in God.

Therefore God also gave them over to the lusts of their own hearts for uncleanness, to contaminate their own bodies between themselves,

Do not be like your fathers, and like your brethren, who rebelled against the LORD God of their fathers and he gave them over to desolation, as ye see.

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

And she said, The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep and said, This time I will go out like before and escape; not knowing that the LORD had departed from him.

And Saul enquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams nor by Urim nor by prophets.

So I gave them up unto the hardness of their heart, and they walked in their own counsels.

Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Then God withdrew and gave them up to worship the host of the heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

But in the fourth generation they shall come here again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

For my name's sake I will defer my anger, and for my praise I will wait patiently for thee that I not cut thee off.

which in the time past were disobedient, when once the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being made ready, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Seest thou how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but in his son's days I will bring the evil upon his house.

But I will not do it in thy days for David, thy father's sake, but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

But the LORD was merciful unto them, and had compassion on them, and looked upon them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and did not desire to destroy them or to cast them from his presence as yet.

Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Then he said unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none; cut it down; why does it cumber the ground? And he, answering, said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also until I shall dig about it and dung it,

and if it bears fruit, well; and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

In addition to this, all the days of his life he shall eat in darkness, with much wrath and pain and sorrow sickness.

and if ye shall despise my statutes or if your soul should abhor my rights so that ye will not do all my commandments but that ye break my covenant, I also will do this unto you: I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague that shall consume the eyes and torment the soul, and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, the LORD will bring upon thee until thou art destroyed.

and thou shalt have great sickness, with disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

The fools, because of the way of their rebellion, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near unto the gates of death.

Therefore I have also made thee weak in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to defraud of the price of the land?

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do ye.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with which ye are sealed for the day of redemption.

but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit shall never have forgiveness but is obligated to eternal judgment,

Of how much greater punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

But they were rebels and angered his holy Spirit; therefore, he was turned to be their enemy, and he himself fought against them.

Therefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.

Quench not the Spirit.

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask God, and he shall give him life that is, unto those that do not sin unto death. There is sin unto death, for which I do not say that you should pray.

They have sown bread, but shall reap thorns; they had the heritage, but they did not profit; and they shall be ashamed because of your fruits, by the fierce anger of the LORD.

Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which does not satisfy? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

He looks upon men, and if any say, I have sinned and perverted that which was right, and it did not profit me;

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

For what is a man advantaged if he gains the whole world, having destroyed himself or having suffered the loss of himself?

do not turn aside after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.

for the evil man shall not come to a good end; the fire of the wicked shall be put out.

Those that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and that which is most precious to them is useful for nothing; and they are their own witnesses that they do not see, nor understand; therefore, they shall be ashamed.

The fools, because of the way of their rebellion, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

The wicked man travails with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden from the violent.

Come now, Oh ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed, for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me and no longer answers me neither by prophets nor by dreams; therefore, I have called thee that thou may make known unto me what I shall do.

In the morning thou shalt say, I wish it were evening, and in the evening thou shalt say, I wish it were morning! For the fear of thine heart with which thou shalt fear and for that which thine eyes shall see.

Good understanding brings forth grace: but the way of transgressors is hard.

Tribulation and anguish shall be upon every human soul that does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek;

Wherever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said and as the LORD had sworn unto them; and thus they were greatly distressed.

destruction and misery are in their ways,

Therefore, in the manner which sin entered into the world by one man, and because of sin, death; and so death passed upon all men in the one in whom all sinned.

in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread until thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken, for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

For the wages of sin is death, but the grace of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou dost eat of it thou shalt surely die.

because ye trespassed against me among the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, because ye did not sanctify me in the midst of the sons of Israel.

So Saul died for his rebellion which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he did not keep, and also for consulting a spiritist, to enquire of her

As righteousness is unto life, so he that pursues evil pursues it unto his own death.

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine; the soul that sins, it shall die.

Then the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against thee; pray unto the LORD that he take away these serpents from among us. And Moses prayed for the people.

O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do it for thy name's sake; for our rebellions have multiplied; we have sinned against thee.

and said, O my God, I am confused and ashamed to lift up my face to thee, my God, for our iniquities have multiplied over our head, and our guiltiness is grown up unto heaven.

And the sons of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee because we have forsaken our God and served the Baalim.

And they gathered together in Mizpeh and drew water and poured it out before the LORD and fasted on that day and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the sons of Israel in Mizpeh.

let thine ear now be attentive and thine eyes open, that thou may hear the prayer of thy slave, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the sons of Israel, thy slaves, and I confess the sins of the sons of Israel, with which we have sinned against thee; both I and my father's house have sinned.

For our rebellions are multiplied before thee, and our sins have testified against us; for our iniquities are with us; and we know our sins:

Upon what shall we secure ourselves? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God has put us to silence and given us water of gall to drink because we have sinned against the LORD.

we have sinned, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly, and we have been rebels, and we have departed from thy commandments and from thy judgments.

Fear thou not, O Jacob my slave, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the Gentiles where I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but I will chastise thee with judgment; and I will not completely cut thee off.

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD repented of having made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast and the animals and the fowls of the air; for I repent of having made them.

But if they will not hear, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.

Not for thy righteousness or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou enter in to inherit their land; but for the wickedness of these Gentiles, the LORD thy God drives them out from before thee and that he may confirm the word which the LORD swore unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl and of beasts and of animals and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth and every man; all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life of all that was in the dry land died.

But if ye will not hearken unto me and will not do all these my commandments; and if ye shall despise my statutes or if your soul should abhor my rights so that ye will not do all my commandments but that ye break my covenant, I also will do this unto you: I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague that shall consume the eyes and torment the soul, and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. read more.
And I will place my wrath upon you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies; those that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when no one pursues you. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. And I will break the pride of your stronghold, and I will make your heaven as iron and your earth as bronze. And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. And if ye walk contrary unto me and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among you which shall rapture your children and destroy your animals and make you few in number, and your ways shall be desolate. And if ye will not be corrected by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me, then will I also walk contrary unto you and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. And I will bring an avenging sword upon you, in vindication of the covenant; and ye shall gather together within your cities; but I will send pestilence among you, and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. When I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight, and ye shall eat and not be satisfied. And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me but walk contrary unto me, then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury, and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. And I will destroy your high places and cut down your images and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. And I will make your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the aroma of your suave incense. And I will bring the land into desolation, and your enemies who dwell therein shall be astonished at it. And I will scatter you among the Gentiles and will draw out a sword after you, and your land shall be desolate and your cities waste. Then shall the land rest for her sabbaths all the days that it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest and enjoy her sabbaths. All the time that it shall be desolate, it shall rest that which it did not rest in your sabbaths when ye dwelt upon it. And upon those that are left alive of you I will send such cowardice into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, that the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursue. And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursue; and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies. And ye shall perish among the Gentiles, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

When he gives rest, who then can make trouble? If he hides his face, who then can behold him? This applies to a nation and the same to a man, that the hypocrite not reign, lest the people be ensnared.

And I will give the Egyptians over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a violent king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of the hosts.

The noise came even to the ends of the earth; for it is judgment of the LORD with the Gentiles; he is the Judge of all flesh; he will give those that are wicked to the sword, said the LORD. Thus saith the LORD of the hosts, Behold, the evil goes forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. And the slain of the LORD shall be in that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be as dung upon the ground. read more.
Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the dust, ye principals of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like an enticing vessel. And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor for the principals of the flock to escape. The voice of the cry of the shepherds and a howling of the principals of the flock shall be heard! For the LORD has spoiled their pasture. And the quiet pastures shall be cut off by the fierce anger of the LORD. He has forsaken his habitation, as the young lion; for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor and because of his fierce anger.

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the afflicted and needy. And they filled themselves with arrogance and committed abomination before me, and when I saw it, I took them away.

Prepare slaughter for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me

keeping mercy for thousands, letting go of iniquity and rebellion and sin; and by no means will I absolve the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons' sons, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

The LORD is longsuffering and of great mercy, letting go of iniquity and transgression and absolving, but by no means absolving the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generations.

And your children shall be shepherded in the wilderness forty years and bear your fornications until your carcasses are wasted in the wilderness.

God shall lay up his violence for their sons; and he will reward him so that he shall know it.

that thou dost show mercy in thousands and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their sons after them, the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of the hosts, is his name,

And those that are left of you shall pine away for their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and for the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

who rejoice to do evil and delight in wicked perversion,

How much less the man who is abominable and filthy, who drinks iniquity like water?

If wickedness was sweet in his mouth, if he hid it under his tongue,

Thou dost love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

Woe unto those that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope,

Thus hath the LORD said unto this people, Thus have they loved to move, nor have they refrained their feet; therefore the LORD does not have them in his will; he will now remember their iniquity and visit their sins.

Who hate the good, and love the evil, who steal their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;

Therefore, for this cause, God shall send the operation of error in them, that they should believe the lie; that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but consented to the iniquity.

Then Paul said unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whitewashed wall, for dost thou sit to judge me after the law and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?

Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which have been done in you, they would have repented a long while ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

and said, O full of all deception and all licentiousness, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

Woe to the sons that leave, saith the LORD, to make counsel, but not of me; to cover themselves with a covering, and not by my spirit, adding sin unto sin!

Who of the prophets have your fathers not persecuted? and they have slain those who announced before the coming of the Just One, of whom ye have now been the betrayers and murderers,

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the judgment of hell?

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who taught you to flee from the wrath to come?

therefore, behold that I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure and all those that thou hast loved, with all those that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee and will uncover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.

but unto those that are contentious and do not obey the truth, but are persuaded by unrighteousness, indignation and wrath.

And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps and make a visitation upon the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

And that slave who knew his lord's will and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

Of how much greater punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

And I will visit evil upon the world and iniquity upon the wicked, and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the strong.

For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to visit the iniquity of the inhabitant of the earth against himself: the earth also shall disclose her blood and shall no longer cover her slain.

so as to give payment, so as to repay the vengeance of his enemies, and repay his adversaries; to the islands he will give recompense.

I will visit you according to the fruit of your doings, said the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in your forest, and it shall devour all things round about it.

Now, therefore, make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers and do his will; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the lands and from the strange women.

and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live he goat and confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel and all their rebellions and all their sins, putting them thus upon the head of the he goat and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man prepared for this;

Only acknowledge thine iniquity that thou hast rebelled against the LORD thy God and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not heard my voice, said the LORD.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.

And they shall confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers for their trespass which they trespassed against me and that also they have walked contrary unto me,

then they shall confess their sin which they have done, and he shall recompense his guilt with the principal thereof and add unto it the fifth part thereof and give it unto him against whom he is guilty.

He looks upon men, and if any say, I have sinned and perverted that which was right, and it did not profit me;

Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked, from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

For God shall bring every work to judgment with every secret thing, whether it is good or whether it is evil.

For every one that does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

in the day when God shall judge that which men have covered up, according to my gospel by Jesus, the Christ.

And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me and said unto me, Say: Thus hath the LORD said, Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I have understood the things that come up into your spirit.

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, each man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the earth.

shall not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which they do in secret.

Fear them not therefore, for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, nor hid that shall not be known.

For nothing is secret that shall not be made manifest, neither any thing hid that shall not be known and come to light.

For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid that shall not be known. Therefore whatever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light, and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

Then came the sons of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month; and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there and was buried there.

This then was the lot of the tribe of the sons of Judah by their families: next to the border of Edom, of the wilderness of Zin towards the Negev on the south side.

because ye trespassed against me among the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, because ye did not sanctify me in the midst of the sons of Israel.

And they removed from Eziongaber and pitched in the wilderness of Zin, which is Kadesh.

For ye were rebels to my word in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me in the waters before their eyes. These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

you shall have on the side of the Negev from the wilderness of Zin unto the borders of Edom, and your border towards the Negev shall be the outmost coast of the salt sea eastward.

And when Moses saw that the people were naked (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies),

My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,

and said, O my God, I am confused and ashamed to lift up my face to thee, my God, for our iniquities have multiplied over our head, and our guiltiness is grown up unto heaven.

And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth shall be awakened, some for eternal life, and some for shame and everlasting confusion.

And he replied, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.

and I will place an everlasting reproach upon you, and eternal shame, which shall never be forgotten.

There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, who are gone down with the slain with their terror, ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with those that are slain by the sword and bear their shame with those that go down to the pit.

Those that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived in the rebellion;

For we ourselves also were foolish in another time, rebellious, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

And the beast was taken and with it the false prophet that wrought miracles in its presence, with which he had deceived those that had taken the mark of the beast and had worshipped its image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

that ye put off everything concerning the old way of life, that is, the old man who corrupts himself according to deceitful desires,

But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

For sin, having had occasion, deceived me by the commandment and by it killed me.

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

Thou hast faith; have it to thyself before God. Blessed is he that does not condemn himself with that thing which he allows. And he that makes a difference is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat by faith; and whatsoever is not out of faith is sin.

Therefore sin is still in the one that knows to do good and does not do it.

The thought of the foolish is sin, and the scorner is an abomination to men.

All unrighteousness is sin, but there is a sin not unto death.

A high look and a proud heart, which is the fire of the wicked, is sin.

When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not delay to pay it; for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the peoples curse, nations shall abhor him:

Who having understood the righteousness of God, they did not understand that those who do such things are worthy of death, not only those that do the same, but even those who encourage those that do them.

He that justifies the wicked and he that condemns the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

Those that forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them.

Woe unto those that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, In what have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that does evil pleases the LORD, and he delights in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and ye strengthen the hands of the wicked that he should not leave his wicked way, encouraging him:

Therefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, leaving behind all the weight of the sin which surrounds us, let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from the carnal desires which war against the soul

that ye put off everything concerning the old way of life, that is, the old man who corrupts himself according to deceitful desires,

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of the Christ;

He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

if there is any iniquity in thy hand and thou dost put it far away and dost not consent that wickedness dwell in thy habitations,

And he said unto them, Ye are they who justify themselves before men, but God knows your hearts, for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

For all that do such things and all that do unrighteously are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

And when the mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and gave birth to a son unto him. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

For thou art not a God that loves wickedness; neither shall one who is evil dwell with thee.

The LORD tries the righteous, but the wicked and he that loves violence his soul hates.

These six things does the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

and let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, said the LORD.

Jesus, lifting himself up and seeing no one but the woman, said unto her, Woman, where are thine accusers? Has no one condemned thee? And she said, No one, Lord. Then Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no more.

My little children, I write these things unto you, that ye sin not; and if anyone has sinned, we have an Advocate before the Father, Jesus, the righteous Christ;

Be ye angry and sin not; let not the sun go down upon your wrath,

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither present your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin, but present yourselves unto God as those that are alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Lay hands suddenly on no one, neither be partaker of the sins of others; keep thyself pure.

Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Watch diligently, and sin not; for some do not know God: I speak this to your shame.

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives the mark in his forehead or in his hand,

And the first went and poured out his vial upon the earth; and an evil and grievous sore fell upon the men who had the mark of the beast and upon those who worshipped its image.

And the beast was taken and with it the false prophet that wrought miracles in its presence, with which he had deceived those that had taken the mark of the beast and had worshipped its image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

The appearance of their countenance witnesses against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom; they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! For they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

The wicked man hardens his face, but as for the upright, he orders his ways.

And he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slaves, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads;

I will set nothing of Belial before my eyes: I hate the work of those that betray; it shall not cleave to me.

and delivered just Lot, who was persecuted by those abominable people because of their nefarious conversation;

Through thy precepts I have obtained understanding; therefore I have hated every false way.

SAMECH. I hate vain thoughts; but I love thy law.

For my mouth shall speak truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate.

For that which I do, I do not understand, and not even the good that I desire is what I do; but what I hate, that is what I do.

And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment and two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

Woe to the sons that leave, saith the LORD, to make counsel, but not of me; to cover themselves with a covering, and not by my spirit, adding sin unto sin!

And the sons of Israel had secretly done those things that were not right against the LORD their God, building themselves high places in all their cities, from the towers of the watchmen to the fenced cities.

He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.

Woe unto those that hide themselves from the LORD, covering the counsel; and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who sees us? and who knows us?

Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, each man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the earth.

Who having understood the righteousness of God, they did not understand that those who do such things are worthy of death, not only those that do the same, but even those who encourage those that do them.

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

As a dog returns to his vomit, so the fool returns to his folly.

Therefore sin is still in the one that knows to do good and does not do it.

because having known God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin; but now because ye say, We see, therefore your sin abides.

For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

And that slave who knew his lord's will and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not and did commit things worthy of stripes shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required; and to whom much was committed, more will be asked of him.

Behold, thou doth call thyself a Jew and art supported by the law and doth glory in God and dost know his will and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law, and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness, read more.
an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of children, who hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. Thou, therefore, who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that dost abhor idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of the law, with rebellion to the law doth thou dishonour God?

For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog returns unto his own vomit, and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

And the sons of Israel had secretly done those things that were not right against the LORD their God, building themselves high places in all their cities, from the towers of the watchmen to the fenced cities.

In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime; they do not know the light.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which they do in secret.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

but I see another law in my members which rebels against the law of my mind, bringing captive unto the law of sin which is in my members.

His own iniquities shall take hold of the wicked, and he shall be imprisoned with the cords of his sins.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the slave of sin.

For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness and in the prison of iniquity.

Or know ye not that to whom ye present yourselves slaves to obey, his slaves ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death or of the obedience unto righteousness?

and that they may become converted out of the snare of the devil, in which they are captive to do his will.

promising them liberty, being they themselves the slaves of corruption: for he who is overcome by someone is subject to bondage by the one that overcame him.

For God shall bring every work to judgment with every secret thing, whether it is good or whether it is evil.

But if ye will not do so, behold, ye shall have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will catch up with you.

Therefore, judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each one have praise of God.

The heavens shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

Even though his hatred is covered up in the desert, his wickedness shall be showed before the whole congregation.

For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid that shall not be known.

whom God purposed for reconciliation through faith in his blood for the manifestation of his righteousness, for the remission of sins that are past, by the patience of God,

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized each one of you into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me

And your children shall be shepherded in the wilderness forty years and bear your fornications until your carcasses are wasted in the wilderness.

For the LORD loves uprightness and does not forsake his merciful ones; they are preserved for ever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

Thou shalt not be numbered with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land and slain thy people; the seed of evildoers shall not be forever.

The house of the wicked shall be made desolate, but the tent of the upright shall flourish.

Our fathers have sinned and are dead; and we have borne their chastisements.

For I have known of your many rebellions and your great sins that afflict the just and take a ransom and turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.

And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me and said unto me, Say: Thus hath the LORD said, Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I have understood the things that come up into your spirit.

For my eyes are upon all their ways, which they have not hid from me, neither does their iniquity hide from the presence of my eyes.

If I sinned, wilt thou mark me and not cleanse me from my iniquity?

For now thou dost number my steps; thou dost not open up my sin.

For though thou wash thee with nitre and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is sealed before me, saith the Lord GOD.

And they do not consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness; now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.

Therefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him, but whosoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, neither in the age to come.

Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men and whatever blasphemies with which they shall blaspheme, but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit shall never have forgiveness but is obligated to eternal judgment,

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, there is forgiveness for him; but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven.

For it is impossible that those who once received the light and tasted of that heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit and likewise have tasted the good word of God and the virtue of the age to come, and have backslidden, be renewed again by repentance, crucifying again for themselves the Son of God and putting him to an open shame. read more.

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask God, and he shall give him life that is, unto those that do not sin unto death. There is sin unto death, for which I do not say that you should pray. All unrighteousness is sin, but there is a sin not unto death.

for it was as a light thing unto him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, and he took to wife Jezebel, the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal and worshipped him.

Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies, but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth for they proceed from evil to evil, and they did not recognize me, said the LORD.

And now they sin more and more, and of their silver they have made molten images according to their own intelligence, idols, all of it the work of the craftsmen; they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.

Woe to the sons that leave, saith the LORD, to make counsel, but not of me; to cover themselves with a covering, and not by my spirit, adding sin unto sin!

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Woe unto those that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope,

and it shall be, when that one hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst.

Then thou shalt say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods and have served them and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law; and ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk each one after the imagination of his evil heart, not hearkening unto me:

For God gives to the man that is good in his sight wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to the one that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

I said, LORD, be merciful unto me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Israel has sinned and has even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them; for they have even taken of the anathema and have also stolen and lied also, and they have even put it in their own vessels. Therefore, the sons of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but shall turn their backs before their enemies because they have been in the anathema; neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the anathema from among you.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

And there is none that calls upon thy name, that wakes himself up to take hold of thee; therefore, thou hast hid thy face from us and hast allowed us to wither in the power of our iniquities.

They shall go with their flocks and with their herds seeking the LORD; but they shall not find him; he has withdrawn himself from them.

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in him; but wounds, and bruises, and putrefying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done and shall do any of them,

Finally, if a person commits a sin by doing any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD, without doing it knowingly, he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.

And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance ye did it as did also your princes.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found thee because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

and they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire and used divination and enchantments and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorce, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities ye are sold, and for your rebellions was your mother put away,

For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nothing; and ye shall be redeemed without money.

For we now know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold unto subjection by sin.

But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them; many a time turned he his anger away and did not stir up all his wrath.

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people; thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the paralytic, Son, thy sins are forgiven thee.

Therefore they are crowned with pride; they cover themselves with violence as a garment.

Therefore sin is still in the one that knows to do good and does not do it.

Then he shall answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of my brothers, ye did it not to me.

But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs and pass over the judgment and the charity of God; these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Certainly thou hast never heard this; certainly thou hast never known this; certainly thine ear was never before opened: for I knew that being unfaithful thou would disobey; therefore, I called thee a rebel from the womb.

Against thee, against thee only, have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight that thou be declared just in thy word and pure in thy judgment. Behold, the pain of my iniquity has caused me to writhe; my mother conceived me so that sin might be removed from me.

Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of Adam? Yea, in heart ye work iniquity; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

And he has made you alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the will of the prince of the power of this air, the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind and were by nature the children of wrath, even as all the others.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

For it was expedient that we have such a high priest, who is holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens,

Therefore, in the manner which sin entered into the world by one man, and because of sin, death; and so death passed upon all men in the one in whom all sinned. But not as the offense, so also is the gift. For if through the offense of that one many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of one man, Jesus the Christ, has abounded unto many. Nor was it in the same manner as by one sin, likewise also the gift; for the judgment truly came of one sin unto condemnation, but grace came of many offenses unto justification. For if by one offense, death reigned because of one man; much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of gifts and of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus the Christ. Therefore, in the same manner that by the iniquity of one guilt came upon all men unto condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, grace came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound, so that in the same manner as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.

Now the serpent was more astute than all the animals of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Has God indeed said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves girdles. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto the man and said unto him, Where art thou? And he replied, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee not to eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate. Then the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I ate. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all beasts and above every animal of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life; and I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed; that seed shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth sons; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it, cursed shall be the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the grass of the field; in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread until thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken, for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

For he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he has put all things under his feet. But when he says all things are put under him, it is clear that he is excepted, who did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also subject himself unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind; they shall have no harvest; the fruit shall yield no meal: if so be it yields, the strangers shall swallow it up.

They have sown bread, but shall reap thorns; they had the heritage, but they did not profit; and they shall be ashamed because of your fruits, by the fierce anger of the LORD.

For thus hath the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel said: The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor; it is now time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

Also, Judah placed a plant in thee when I had turned the captivity of my people.

how shall we escape, if we belittle such great saving health? Which, having begun to be published by the Lord, has been confirmed unto us by those that heard him,

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the judgment of hell?

I saw the Lord standing upon the altar, and he said, Smite the threshold and shake the doors and cut the head of them all into pieces; and I will slay the last of them with the sword; there shall be none of them left to flee away or to escape. Though they dig unto Sheol, from there shall my hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, from there I will bring them down; and though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out of there; and though they hide from my sight in the bottom of the sea, from there will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: read more.
and though they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set my eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto the man and said unto him, Where art thou? And he replied, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself. read more.
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee not to eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.

And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. From the time that it goes forth, it shall take you: for it shall come suddenly, by day and by night: and it shall be that the terror only causes one to understand the report. For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. read more.
For the LORD shall rise up as in Mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. Now therefore do not be mockers lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of the hosts that consumption and destruction are determined upon the whole earth.

Why does this fellow so blaspheme? Who can forgive sins but God only?

keeping mercy for thousands, letting go of iniquity and rebellion and sin; and by no means will I absolve the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons' sons, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

Who is a God like unto thee that pardons iniquity, and passes over the rebellion with the remnant of his heritage? He did not retain his anger for ever because he delights in mercy.

Of the Lord our God is the ability to have mercy and to forgive, even though we have rebelled against him

Therefore thus hath the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel said: Behold, I will set my face against you for evil and to cut off all Judah.

The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD, but he loves him that follows after righteousness.

Howbeit I sent unto you all my slaves the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

Behold, the pain of my iniquity has caused me to writhe; my mother conceived me so that sin might be removed from me.

What is man that he should be clean and that he that is born of a woman should be justified?

How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he that is born of a woman be clean?

And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Seth:

Then Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul,

And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.

Why, therefore, hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? Thou hast killed Uriah, the Hittite, with the sword and hast taken his wife to be thy wife and hast slain him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.

Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

But this people have a false and rebellious heart; they turned and went. Neither do they say in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God that gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; he shall keep us with the appointed weeks of the harvest. Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good things from you.

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful slave, thou knewest that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered;

And Ezra, the priest, stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed because ye have taken strange women, thus increasing the guiltiness of Israel. Now, therefore, make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers and do his will; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the lands and from the strange women.

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, there is forgiveness for him; but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven.

but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit shall never have forgiveness but is obligated to eternal judgment,

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask God, and he shall give him life that is, unto those that do not sin unto death. There is sin unto death, for which I do not say that you should pray. All unrighteousness is sin, but there is a sin not unto death.

Therefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.

Stand in awe, and sin not; meditate in your heart upon your bed, and desist. Selah.

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Then Moses said unto the people, Fear not, for God is come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate.

Hate the evil and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate; it may be that the LORD God of the hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

Ye that love the LORD are to hate evil; he preserves the souls of his saints; he delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

he himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose wound ye were healed.

Likewise also reckon yourselves to be truly dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ, Jesus, our Lord.

No, in no wise. How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?

Then come, shall the LORD say, and we shall be even; if your sins were as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow; if they were red like crimson, they shall become as wool.

Caph For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity; for it is great.

Certainly thy wickedness is great and thine iniquities have no end.

Was then that which is good made death unto me? No, in no wise. But sin, to show itself sin by that which is good, worked death in me, making sin exceedingly sinful by the commandment.

These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou didst think that I was altogether such a one as thyself, but I will reprove thee and set them in order before thine eyes.

He has said in his heart, God has forgotten; he hides his face; he will never see it.

Yet they say, JAH shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

Therefore, thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest; for in that which thou dost judge another, thou dost condemn thyself; for thou that judgest others doest the same things.

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

For the invisible things of him, his eternal power and divinity, are clearly understood by the creation of the world and by the things that are made so that there is no excuse;

For sin, having had occasion, deceived me by the commandment and by it killed me.

For while we were in the flesh, the affections of the sins which were by the law worked in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Then sin, when there was occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of lust. For without the law sin was as if it were dormant.

These six things does the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to evil, read more.
a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

For all that do such things and all that do unrighteously are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

lest there be any fornicator or profane person as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, desiring to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die; and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he swore unto him and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

For I acknowledge my rebellion; and my sin is ever before me.

Truly my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my kidneys.

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment:

For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

Who having understood the righteousness of God, they did not understand that those who do such things are worthy of death, not only those that do the same, but even those who encourage those that do them.

They make the king glad with their wickedness and the princes with their lies.

And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate. Then the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.

And Samuel came to Saul, and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD; I have performed the commandment of the LORD. Then Samuel said, What means then this bleating of the sheep in my ears and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? And Saul said, They have brought them from Amalek, for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God, and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; which I denounce, as I have also told you in time past that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

But first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double because they have defiled my land with the carcasses of their abominations, and they have filled my inheritance with abominable things.

Reward her even as she rewarded you and pay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has given thee to drink, give her double.

If they have sinned against thee (for there is no man that does not sin) and thou should be angry with them and deliver them to the enemy so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near,

For surely there is not a just man upon earth that in doing good does not sin.

They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ. They spend their days in pleasure and in a moment go down to Sheol.

And that which fell among thorns are those who when they have heard go forth and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to perfection.

If wickedness was sweet in his mouth, if he hid it under his tongue, if it seemed good unto him, and he did not forsake it, but savored it within his mouth, his food shall be changed in his bowels, it shall be the gall of asps within him. read more.
He has swallowed down riches, but he shall vomit them up again; God shall cast them out of his belly. He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall slay him.

We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us; for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not hearkened unto the voice of the LORD our God.

For the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have done only evil before me from their youth: for the sons of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, said the LORD.

Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth and walk in the ways of thine heart and in the sight of thine eyes; but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

Zain Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellions; according to thy mercy remember me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.

Withhold thy foot from being unshod and thy throat from thirst; but thou didst say, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them I will go.

And they said, This is useless, for we must walk after our own devices, and we must each one do the imagination of his evil heart.

in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread until thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken, for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth sons; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it, cursed shall be the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Remember, and forget not, how thou hast provoked the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness; from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

Whoever rebels against thy commandment and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou doest command him, let him die; only be strong and of a good courage.

A high look and a proud heart, which is the fire of the wicked, is sin.

Therefore thus hath the Lord GOD said: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, manifesting your betrayals and uncovering your sins in all your doings; for which ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the slave of sin. And the slave does not abide in the house for ever, but the Son abides for ever.

What then? shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? No, in no wise. Or know ye not that to whom ye present yourselves slaves to obey, his slaves ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death or of the obedience unto righteousness? Thank God that, although ye were the slaves of sin, ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine unto which ye are delivered; read more.
and freed from sin, ye are become the slaves of righteousness. I speak a human thing because of the weakness of our flesh: that as ye presented your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity unto iniquity, likewise now present your members to serve righteousness unto holiness. For being previously the slaves of sin, now ye have been made the slaves of righteousness.

Then come, shall the LORD say, and we shall be even; if your sins were as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow; if they were red like crimson, they shall become as wool.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have communion with him in the midst of us, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son cleanses us from all sin.

Remove the sin in me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

And Jezebel, his wife, said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? Arise and eat bread and let thy heart be merry; I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreel.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found thee because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

And he took the calf which they had made and burnt it in the fire and ground it to powder and scattered it upon the waters and made the sons of Israel drink it.

Therefore, the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD, for men despised the present of the LORD.

Certainly, if having separated themselves from the contaminations of the world, by the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they again entangle themselves therein and are overcome, their latter end is made worse for them than the beginnings.

Then it goes and takes with itself seven other spirits worse than itself, and they enter in and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it also be unto this wicked generation.

For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips pronounce lies; your tongue speaks evil.

There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

The work of the righteous is unto life, but the fruit of the wicked is for sin.

Why do the wicked live and become old and even increase in riches? Their seed is with them, established in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God upon them. read more.
Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young. They send forth their little ones like a flock of sheep, and their children dance. They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ. They spend their days in pleasure and in a moment go down to Sheol. Therefore, they say unto God, Depart from us; for we do not desire the knowledge of thy ways. Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit should we have if we pray unto him?

And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.

and come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are free to do all these abominations?

Nevertheless, the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows those that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Nun Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

For if ye live according to the flesh, ye shall die; but if through the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil lust, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man unto whom God doth attribute righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered.

Remember this, that the enemy has spoken against the LORD and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.

But the person that does something consciously, whether they are natural born or a stranger, the same reproaches the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

Some men's sins are manifest beforehand, before they come unto judgment, but to others they follow after.

Therefore I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping of the supplications of the sons of Israel; for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.

And they said one to another, We are truly guilty concerning our brother in that we saw the anguish of his soul when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

Then Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron and said unto them, I have sinned this time; the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Righteousness exalts a people, but sin is a reproach to the nations.

but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou dost eat of it thou shalt surely die.

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine; the soul that sins, it shall die.

TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting.

Belshazzar the king made a great banquet to a thousand of his lords, and against the thousand he drank wine. Belshazzar, under the influence of the wine, commanded that they bring the vessels of gold and of silver which Nebuchadnezzar his father had brought from the temple of Jerusalem; that the king and his princes, his wives and his concubines, might drink with them.

how much more shall the blood of the Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from the works of death to serve the living God?

Therefore, leaving now the word of the beginning of the establishment of the Christ, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from works of death, and of faith in God,

And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

And he replied, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.

He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.

He looks upon men, and if any say, I have sinned and perverted that which was right, and it did not profit me;

Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

For whosoever shall have kept the whole law, and then offends in one point is made guilty of all. For he that said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, said also, Thou shalt not murder. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou commit murder, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

And the LORD smelled a savour of rest, and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his childhood; neither will I again smite any more every living thing as I have done.

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Therefore, O king, approve my counsel and redeem thy sins with righteousness and thine iniquities with mercies unto the poor: behold the medicine for thy sin.

Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, if he does not turn from his way, he shall die for his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom;

He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.

Woe to the sons that leave, saith the LORD, to make counsel, but not of me; to cover themselves with a covering, and not by my spirit, adding sin unto sin!

And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.

but I see another law in my members which rebels against the law of my mind, bringing captive unto the law of sin which is in my members.

So that it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells in me.

Thy spoken word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have observed the ways of the violent.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

and said, O my God, I am confused and ashamed to lift up my face to thee, my God, for our iniquities have multiplied over our head, and our guiltiness is grown up unto heaven.

They are become fat; they shine; yea, they overpass in deeds of wickedness; they did not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless; with all this they made themselves prosperous; and they did not judge the cause of the poor.

They are become fat; they shine; yea, they overpass in deeds of wickedness; they did not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless; with all this they made themselves prosperous; and they did not judge the cause of the poor.

Therefore, I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.

And there ye shall remember your ways and all your doings, in which ye have been defiled; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? No, in no wise. But, I did not know sin except by the law; for neither would I have known lust if the law did not say, Thou shalt not covet.

We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us, for this is a stiffnecked people, and forgive our iniquity and our sin and possess us.

I will arise and go to my father and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee

And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing amiss.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the slave of sin.

Or know ye not that to whom ye present yourselves slaves to obey, his slaves ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death or of the obedience unto righteousness?

And I will visit evil upon the world and iniquity upon the wicked, and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the strong.

You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore, I will visit all your iniquities against you.

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

And that slave who knew his lord's will and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

Then he called for a light and came inside and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas

Stand in awe, and sin not; meditate in your heart upon your bed, and desist. Selah.

I said, I will take heed to my ways that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bit while the wicked is against me.

We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

Behold, what charity the Father has given us, that we should be called the sons of God; therefore the world does not know us, because it does not know him. Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be; but we know that if he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every one that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure. read more.
Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he appeared to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. Whosoever abides in him does not sin: whosoever sins has not seen him or known him.

The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

And ye know that he appeared to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God appeared, that he might undo the works of the devil.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father ye desire to do. He was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Separate yourselves from all appearance of evil.

There was a certain creditor who had two debtors: the one owed five hundred denarius, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he released them both from their debt. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. read more.
And he turned to the woman and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house, thou didst give me no water for my feet; but she has washed my feet with tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss; but this woman since the time I came in has not ceased to kiss my feet. Thou didst not anoint my head with oil; but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much; but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.

Know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God.

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

And the Spirit of God clothed himself in Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada, the priest, who being over the people, said unto them, Thus hath God said, Why do ye transgress the commandments of the LORD? Ye shall not prosper in this; for because ye have forsaken the LORD, he shall also forsake you.

Flee fornication. Any other sin that a man does is outside the body, but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.

Righteousness exalts a people, but sin is a reproach to the nations.

The same hour the word was fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from among men and ate grass as the oxen, and his body was bathed with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws. But at the end of the time I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes unto heaven, and my understanding was returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and glorified him that lives for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is through all ages:

Woe unto those that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope, that say, Let him make speed and hasten his work that we may see it, and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come that we may know it!

And if I do that which I do not desire, I am not working, but sin that dwells in me. So that, desiring to do good, I find this law: evil is natural unto me. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? No, in no wise. How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? Know ye not that all of us that are baptized into Jesus the Christ are baptized into his death? read more.
For we are buried with him by baptism into death, that just as the Christ was raised up from the dead to the glory of the Father, likewise we also walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection, knowing this: that our old man is crucified with him that the body of sin might be destroyed that we should not serve sin any longer. For he that is dead is justified from sin. Now if we die with the Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him, knowing that the Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more; death has no more dominion over him. Neither present your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin, but present yourselves unto God as those that are alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. So that sin shall have no dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he shall take away; and every one that bears fruit, he shall purge that they may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. read more.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abides in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I AM the vine, ye are the branches: he that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing. He who does not abide in me shall be cast forth as an unsound branch and shall wither, and they are gathered and cast into the fire and are burned. If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. In this is my Father clarified, in that ye bear much fruit; and in this manner ye shall be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken unto you that my joy may abide in you and that your joy might be fulfilled. This is my commandment, That ye love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his soul for his friends. Ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you. From now on I do not call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his lord does; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it unto you. This I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The slave is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also. But they will do all these things unto you for my name's sake, because they do not know him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

O Lord, the righteousness belongs unto thee, but unto us the confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near and that are far off through all the lands where thou hast driven them because of their rebellion with which they have rebelled against thee. Your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness, all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me; doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore to make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun. But your little ones, whom ye said should be a prey, I will bring them in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall be shepherded in the wilderness forty years and bear your fornications until your carcasses are wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which ye spied out the land, even forty days, each day for a year, ye shall bear your iniquities forty years, and ye shall know my reason for annulling my promise. I, the LORD, have spoken, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation that are gathered together against me; in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die. And the men, whom Moses had sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation to murmur against him by bringing up a slander upon the land, even those men that brought an evil report of the land, died by the plague before the LORD. But Joshua, the son of Nun, and Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, remained alive of the men that went to spy out the land. And Moses told these things unto all the sons of Israel, and the people mourned greatly. And they rose up early in the morning and climbed up into the top of the mountain, saying, Here we are prepared to go up unto the place of which the LORD has spoken; for we have sinned. And Moses said, Why do ye break the commandment of the LORD? This also shall not prosper. Do not go up, for the LORD is not among you; do not be smitten before your enemies. For the Amalekite and the Canaanite are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; because ye are turned away from following the LORD, therefore, the LORD will not be with you. But they presumed to go up unto the hill top; nevertheless, the ark of the covenant of the LORD and Moses, did not depart out of the camp.
