Duties Of The Levites

47 The Levites, however, were not numbered among them by their fathers' tribe.

47 But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

47 The descendants of Levi were not counted according to their ancestral houses

47 But the Levites by their fathers' tribe were not numbered with them.

48 For the LORD had spoken to Moses, saying,

48 For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying,

48 because the LORD had ordered Moses:

48 For the Lord had said to Moses,

49 "Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, nor shall you take their census among the sons of Israel.

49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:

49 "Be sure not to number or count the tribe of Levi with the rest of the Israelis.

49 Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number in the census of the Israelites.

50 "But you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its furnishings and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, and they shall take care of it; they shall also camp around the tabernacle.

50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

50 Instead, appoint the descendants of Levi over the Tent of Meeting, all the vessels, and everything in it. They are to carry the tent and all the vessels in it. They are to attend to it and camp around it.

50 But appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its vessels and furnishings and all things that belong to it. They shall carry the tabernacle [when journeying] and all its furnishings, and they shall minister to it and encamp around it.

51 "So when the tabernacle is to set out, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle encamps, the Levites shall set it up But the layman who comes near shall be put to death.

51 And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

51 Whenever the tent is ready for travel, the descendants of Levi are to take it down. When it's time to encamp, the descendants of Levi are to set it up. Any unauthorized person who approaches it is to be executed.

51 When the tabernacle is to go forward, the Levites shall take it down, and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up. And the excluded [any not of the tribe of Levi] who approach the tabernacle shall be put to death.

52 "The sons of Israel shall camp, each man by his own camp, and each man by his own standard, according to their armies.

52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.

52 Then the Israelis are to encamp around the tent, arranged according to their company and the standard of their army.

52 The Israelites shall pitch their tents by their companies, every man by his own camp and every man by his own [tribal] standard.

53 "But the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the testimony, so that there will be no wrath on the congregation of the sons of Israel So the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the testimony."

53 But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.

53 But the descendants of Levi are to encamp on all sides of the Tent of Meeting so that divine wrath won't fall on the congregation of Israel. The descendants of Levi are to take care of the Tent of Meeting."

53 But the Levites shall encamp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath upon the congregation of the Israelites; and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony.

54 Thus the sons of Israel did; according to all which the LORD had commanded Moses, so they did.

54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.

54 The Israelis observed everything that the LORD had commanded Moses, doing exactly what they were told.

54 Thus did the Israelites; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so they did.
