Numbers 15

Various Sacrifices And Offerings

1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

1 The Lord instructed Moses:

1 Later, the LORD instructed Moses,

1 And the Lord said to Moses,

2 "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you enter the land where you are to live, which I am giving you,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you,

2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you enter the land I am giving you to settle in,

2 "Tell the Israelis that

2 Say to the Israelites, When you come into the land where you are to live, which I am giving you,

3 then make an offering by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a special vow, or as a freewill offering or in your appointed times, to make a soothing aroma to the LORD, from the herd or from the flock.

3 And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the herd, or of the flock:

3 and you make a fire offering to the Lord from the herd or flock-either a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow, or as a freewill offering, or at your appointed festivals-to produce a pleasing aroma for the Lord,

3 when you enter the land where you'll be living that I'm about to give you, you are to make an offering by fire to the LORD, either a burnt offering, a sacrificial offering to fulfill a vow, or a voluntary offering at the appointed time, to make a pleasing aroma to the LORD either from your cattle or from your flocks.

3 And will make an offering by fire to the Lord from the herd or from the flock, a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering or in your set feasts, to make a pleasant and soothing fragrance to the Lord,

4 'The one who presents his offering shall present to the LORD a grain offering of one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of oil,

4 Then shall he that offereth his offering unto the LORD bring a meat offering of a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil.

4 the one presenting his offering to the Lord must also present a grain offering of two quarts of fine flour mixed with a quart of oil.

4 The offeror is to bring the oblation to the LORD, containing one tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with one fourth of a hin of olive oil.

4 Then shall he who brings his offering to the Lord bring a cereal offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a fourth of a hin of oil.

5 and you shall prepare wine for the drink offering, one-fourth of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.

5 And the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering shalt thou prepare with the burnt offering or sacrifice, for one lamb.

5 Prepare a quart of wine as a drink offering with the burnt offering or sacrifice of each lamb.

5 Also prepare one fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering or for the sacrifice of each lamb.

5 And a fourth of a hin of wine for the drink offering you shall prepare with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.

6 'Or for a ram you shall prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-third of a hin of oil;

6 Or for a ram, thou shalt prepare for a meat offering two tenth deals of flour mingled with the third part of an hin of oil.

6 "If you prepare a grain offering with a ram, it must be four quarts of fine flour mixed with a third of a gallon of oil.

6 "For a ram, prepare a grain offering consisting of two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one third of a hin of olive oil.

6 Or for a ram you shall prepare for a cereal offering two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil.

7 and for the drink offering you shall offer one-third of a hin of wine as a soothing aroma to the LORD.

7 And for a drink offering thou shalt offer the third part of an hin of wine, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

7 Also present a third of a gallon of wine for a drink offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

7 Now as for your drink offering, offer one third of a hin of wine as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

7 And for the drink offering you shall offer a third of a hin of wine, for a sweet and pleasing odor to the Lord.

8 'When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a special vow, or for peace offerings to the LORD,

8 And when thou preparest a bullock for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice in performing a vow, or peace offerings unto the LORD:

8 "If you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow, or as a fellowship offering to the Lord,

8 "When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering, or as a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or for peace offerings to the LORD,

8 And when you prepare a bull for a burnt offering or for a sacrifice, in fulfilling a special vow or peace offering to the Lord,

9 then you shall offer with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-half a hin of oil;

9 Then shall he bring with a bullock a meat offering of three tenth deals of flour mingled with half an hin of oil.

9 a grain offering of six quarts of fine flour mixed with two quarts of oil must be presented with the bull.

9 then the bullock is to be presented accompanied by a meal offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil.

9 Then shall one offer with the bull a cereal offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil.

10 and you shall offer as the drink offering one-half a hin of wine as an offering by fire, as a soothing aroma to the LORD.

10 And thou shalt bring for a drink offering half an hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

10 Also present two quarts of wine as a drink offering. It is a fire offering of pleasing aroma to the Lord.

10 "As for drink offerings, offer half a hin of wine, for an offering made by fire is a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

10 And you shall bring for the drink offering half a hin of wine for an offering made by fire, of a pleasant and soothing fragrance to the Lord.

11 'Thus it shall be done for each ox, or for each ram, or for each of the male lambs, or of the goats.

11 Thus shall it be done for one bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a kid.

11 This is to be done for each ox, ram, lamb, or goat.

11 Do this for each bullock, ram, male lamb, or goat.

11 Thus shall it be done for each bull or for each ram, or for each of the male lambs or of the kids.

12 'According to the number that you prepare, so you shall do for everyone according to their number.

12 According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.

12 This is how you must prepare each of them, no matter how many.

12 Depending on the number of offerings that you prepare, do for each one according to their number.

12 According to the number that you shall prepare, so shall you do to everyone according to their number.

13 'All who are native shall do these things in this manner, in presenting an offering by fire, as a soothing aroma to the LORD.

13 All that are born of the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

13 "Every Israelite is to prepare these things in this way when he presents a fire offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

13 Every native born person is to do these things, bringing an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD."

13 All who are native-born shall do these things in this way in bringing an offering made by fire of a sweet and pleasant odor to the Lord.

14 'If an alien sojourns with you, or one who may be among you throughout your generations, and he wishes to make an offering by fire, as a soothing aroma to the LORD, just as you do so he shall do.

14 And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; as ye do, so he shall do.

14 When a foreigner resides with you or someone else is among you and wants to prepare a fire offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord, he is to do exactly as you do throughout your generations.

14 "Now, if a resident alien lives with you, or whoever else is with you throughout your generations, let him make an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. Just as you do, so is he to do.

14 And if a stranger sojourns with you or whoever may be among you throughout your generations, and he wishes to offer an offering made by fire, of a pleasing and soothing fragrance to the Lord, as you do, so shall he do.

15 'As for the assembly, there shall be one statute for you and for the alien who sojourns with you, a perpetual statute throughout your generations; as you are, so shall the alien be before the LORD.

15 One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the LORD.

15 The assembly is to have the same statute for both you and the foreign resident as a permanent statute throughout your generations. You and the foreigner will be alike before the Lord.

15 There is to be a single standard for your community, one statute for you and the resident alien who lives with you, a long lasting statute throughout your generations. Just as you do, so is the resident alien to do in the presence of the LORD.

15 There shall be one [and the same] statute [both] for you [of the congregation] and for the stranger who is a temporary resident with you, a statute forever throughout your generations: as you are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord.

16 'There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the alien who sojourns with you.'"

16 One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.

16 The same law and the same ordinance will apply to both you and the foreigner who resides with you."

16 There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the resident alien who lives with you."

16 One law and one ordinance shall be for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.

Rules For First Fruits

17 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

17 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

17 The Lord instructed Moses:

17 Then the LORD instructed Moses:

17 And the Lord said to Moses,

18 "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you enter the land where I bring you,

18 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you,

18 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: After you enter the land where I am bringing you,

18 "Tell the Israelis that when they enter the land that I'm about to bring you to,

18 Say to the Israelites, When you come into the land to which I am bringing you,

19 then it shall be, that when you eat of the food of the land, you shall lift up an offering to the LORD.

19 Then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall offer up an heave offering unto the LORD.

19 you are to offer a contribution to the Lord when you eat from the food of the land.

19 when you have eaten some of the bread that the land produces, you are to offer a raised offering to the LORD.

19 Then, when you eat of the food of the land, you shall set apart a portion for a gift to the Lord [called a heave or taken-out offering].

20 'Of the first of your dough you shall lift up a cake as an offering; as the offering of the threshing floor, so you shall lift it up.

20 Ye shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for an heave offering: as ye do the heave offering of the threshingfloor, so shall ye heave it.

20 You are to offer a loaf from your first batch of dough as a contribution; offer it just like a contribution from the threshing floor.

20 You are to offer a cake made from the first of your bread dough as a raised offering to the LORD. Offer it as a raised offering right off your threshing floor.

20 You shall set apart a cake made of the first of your coarse meal as a gift [to the Lord]; as an offering set apart from the threshing floor, so shall you lift it out or heave it.

21 'From the first of your dough you shall give to the LORD an offering throughout your generations.

21 Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto the LORD an heave offering in your generations.

21 Throughout your generations, you are to give the Lord a contribution from the first batch of your dough.

21 From then on, throughout your generations give the first of your bread dough to the LORD."

21 Of the first of your coarse meal you shall give to the Lord a portion for a gift throughout your generations [your heave or lifted-out offering].

Laws About Unintentional Sins

22 'But when you unwittingly fail and do not observe all these commandments, which the LORD has spoken to Moses,

22 And if ye have erred, and not observed all these commandments, which the LORD hath spoken unto Moses,

22 "When you sin unintentionally and do not obey all these commands that the Lord spoke to Moses-

22 "Here's what you are to do when you all go astray and fail to observe all these commands that the LORD had spoken to Moses,

22 When you have erred and have not observed all these commandments which the Lord has spoken to Moses,

23 even all that the LORD has commanded you through Moses, from the day when the LORD gave commandment and onward throughout your generations,

23 Even all that the LORD hath commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that the LORD commanded Moses, and henceforward among your generations;

23 all that the Lord has commanded you through Moses, from the day the Lord issued the commands and onward throughout your generations-

23 including anything that the LORD commanded you by the authority of Moses, starting from the day the LORD commanded Moses and continuing through your generations.

23 Even all that the Lord has commanded you through Moses, from the day that the Lord gave commandment and onward throughout your generations,

24 then it shall be, if it is done unintentionally, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one bull for a burnt offering, as a soothing aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one male goat for a sin offering.

24 Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering.

24 and if it was done unintentionally without the community's awareness, the entire community is to prepare one young bull for a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord, with its grain offering and drink offering according to the regulation, and one male goat as a sin offering.

24 When anything is done without the knowledge of the congregation, the entire community is to offer one young bull for a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD, along with its meal and drink offerings offered according to procedure, and one male goat for a sin offering.

24 Then it shall be, if it was done unwittingly or in error without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering, for a pleasant and soothing fragrance to the Lord, with its cereal offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one male goat for a sin offering.

25 'Then the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and they will be forgiven; for it was an error, and they have brought their offering, an offering by fire to the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their error.

25 And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance:

25 The priest must then make atonement for the entire Israelite community so that they may be forgiven, for the sin was unintentional. They are to bring their offering, one made by fire to the Lord, and their sin offering before the Lord for their unintentional sin.

25 Then the priest is to make atonement for the entire community of the Israelis, and they will be forgiven for inadvertent sins. They are to bring their offering, an offering made by fire to the LORD, as well as their sin offering, into the LORD's presence on account of their error.

25 And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the Israelites, and they shall be forgiven, for it was an error and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire to the Lord, and their sin offering before the Lord for their error.

26 'So all the congregation of the sons of Israel will be forgiven, with the alien who sojourns among them, for it happened to all the people through error.

26 And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.

26 The entire Israelite community and the foreigner who resides among them will be forgiven, since it happened to all the people unintentionally.

26 Then the entire community of Israel will be forgiven, along with the resident alien who lives among them, since all the people will have sinned inadvertently."

26 And all the congregation of the Israelites shall be forgiven and the stranger who lives temporarily among them, because all the people were involved in the error.

27 'Also if one person sins unintentionally, then he shall offer a one year old female goat for a sin offering.

27 And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.

27 "If one person sins unintentionally, he is to present a year-old female goat as a sin offering.

27 "Now when one person sins inadvertently, then he is to bring a one year old female goat for a sin offering.

27 And if any person sins unknowingly or unintentionally, he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering.

28 'The priest shall make atonement before the LORD for the person who goes astray when he sins unintentionally, making atonement for him that he may be forgiven.

28 And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.

28 The priest must then make atonement before the Lord on behalf of the person who acts in error sinning unintentionally, and when he makes atonement for him, he will be forgiven.

28 Then, in the LORD's presence, the priest is to make atonement for the person who sinned inadvertently, that is, to make atonement on his behalf so he may be forgiven.

28 And the priest shall make atonement before the Lord for the person who commits an error when he sins unknowingly or unintentionally, to make atonement for him; and he shall be forgiven.

29 'You shall have one law for him who does anything unintentionally, for him who is native among the sons of Israel and for the alien who sojourns among them.

29 Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.

29 You are to have the same law for the person who acts in error, whether he is an Israelite or a foreigner who lives among you.

29 You are to have a single law for the one who does things inadvertently, whether for the native-born Israeli or for the resident alien who lives among you."

29 You shall have one law for him who sins unknowingly or unintentionally, whether he is native born among the Israelites or a stranger who is sojourning among them.

Deliberate Sin

30 'But the person who does anything defiantly, whether he is native or an alien, that one is blaspheming the LORD; and that person shall be cut off from among his people.

30 But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

30 "But the person who acts defiantly, whether native or foreign resident, blasphemes the Lord. That person is to be cut off from his people.

30 "But if some person acts with a high hand, whether a native-born or a resident alien, he blasphemes God, and that person is to be eliminated from among his people.

30 But the person who does anything [wrong] willfully and openly, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one reproaches, reviles, and blasphemes the Lord, and that person shall be cut off from among his people [that the atonement made for them may not include him].

31 'Because he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt will be on him.'"

31 Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

31 He will certainly be cut off, because he has despised the Lord's word and broken His command; his guilt remains on him."

31 Because he has despised the law of the LORD and has broken his commands, that person is certainly to be eliminated. His iniquity will remain on him."

31 Because he has despised and rejected the word of the Lord, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be utterly cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

Violation Of The Sabbath

32 Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day.

32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.

32 While the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.

32 As it was when the Israelis were in the wilderness, they found a man who was gathering wood on the Sabbath day.

32 While the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man who was gathering sticks on the Sabbath day.

33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation;

33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.

33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the entire community.

33 The ones who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and all the people.

33 Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation.

34 and they put him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

34 And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.

34 They placed him in custody, because it had not been decided what should be done to him.

34 Then they confined him until it could be declared what should be done to him.

34 They put him in custody, because it was not certain or clear what should be done to him.

35 Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp."

35 And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

35 Then the Lord told Moses, "The man is to be put to death. The entire community is to stone him outside the camp."

35 Then the LORD told Moses, "The man is certainly to die. The entire community is to stone him to death outside the camp."

35 And the Lord said to Moses, The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

36 So all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.

36 So the entire community brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

36 So the whole community brought him outside the camp and stoned him with stones so that he died, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Garment Fringes

37 The LORD also spoke to Moses, saying,

37 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

37 The Lord said to Moses,

37 Later, the LORD instructed Moses,

37 And the Lord said to Moses,

38 "Speak to the sons of Israel, and tell them that they shall make for themselves tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and that they shall put on the tassel of each corner a cord of blue.

38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:

38 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them that throughout their generations they are to make tassels for the corners of their garments, and put a blue cord on the tassel at [each] corner.

38 "Tell the Israelis that they are to make tassels at the edges of their garments throughout their generations and that they are to put a violet cord on the tassels at the edges of their garments.

38 Speak to the Israelites and bid them make fringes or tassels on the corners in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and put upon the fringe of the borders or upon the tassel of each corner a cord of blue.

39 "It shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the LORD, so as to do them and not follow after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you played the harlot,

39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

39 These will serve as tassels for you to look at, so that you may remember all the Lord's commands and obey them and not become unfaithful by following your own heart and your own eyes.

39 That way, when you see the tassel, you'll remember all the commands of the LORD and you'll observe them. Then you won't seek your own interests and desires that lead you to be unfaithful.

39 And it shall be to you a fringe or tassel that you may look upon and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, that you may not spy out and follow after [the desires of] your own heart and your own eyes, after which you used to follow and play the harlot [spiritually, if not physically],

40 so that you may remember to do all My commandments and be holy to your God.

40 That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

40 This way you will remember and obey all My commands and be holy to your God.

40 Therefore, remember to observe all my commands and to be holy in the presence of your God.

40 That you may remember and do all My commandments and be holy to your God.

41 "I am the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt to be your God; I am the LORD your God."

41 I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.

41 I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I am the Lord your God."

41 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD your God."

41 I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.
