Prologue

¹ The wise sayings of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel. ² To have knowledge of wise teaching; to be clear about the words of reason:

Proverbs 10:1

A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.

Proverbs 25:1

These are more wise sayings of Solomon, copied out by the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah.

Ecclesiastes 12:9

And because the Preacher was wise he still gave the people knowledge; searching out, testing, and putting in order a great number of wise sayings.

1 Kings 4:31-32

For he was wiser than all men, even than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman and Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and he had a great name among all the nations round about.
