Psalm 149

Praise To God For His Future Judgment

1 Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones.

1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

1 Hallelujah! Sing a new song to the LORD, praising him where the godly gather together.

1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, praise Him in the assembly of His saints!

2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King.

2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

2 May Israel rejoice in its Maker, and Zion's descendants in their King!

2 Let Israel rejoice in Him, their Maker; let Zion's children triumph and be joyful in their King!

3 Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre.

3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

3 May they praise his name with dancing, chanting songs to him with tambourines and lyres.

3 Let them praise His name in chorus and choir and with the [single or group] dance; let them sing praises to Him with the tambourine and lyre!

4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

4 For the LORD is pleased with his people; he beautifies the afflicted with salvation.

4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation and adorn the wretched with victory.

5 Let the godly ones exult in glory; Let them sing for joy on their beds.

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

5 May those he loves be exalted, singing for joy on their couches.

5 Let the saints be joyful in the glory and beauty [which God confers upon them]; let them sing for joy upon their beds.

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand,

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

6 Let high praises to God be heard in their throats, while they wield two-edged swords in their hands

6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats and a two-edged sword in their hands,

7 To execute vengeance on the nations And punishment on the peoples,

7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

7 as they bring retribution to nations and punishment to nations,

7 To wreak vengeance upon the nations and chastisement upon the peoples,

8 To bind their kings with chains And their nobles with fetters of iron,

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

8 binding their kings with chains, their officials with iron bands,

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron,

9 To execute on them the judgment written; This is an honor for all His godly ones. Praise the LORD!

9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

9 and executing the judgment written against them. This is honor for all the ones he loves. Hallelujah!

9 To execute upon them the judgment written. He [the Lord] is the honor of all His saints. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
