Psalm 3

Confidence In Troubled Times

1 O LORD, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me.

1 {A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.} LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

1 LORD, I have so many persecutors! Many are rising up against me!

1 Lord, how they are increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.

2 Many are saying of my soul, "There is no deliverance for him in God." Selah.

2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

2 Many are saying about me, "God will never deliver him!"

2 Many are saying of me, There is no help for him in God. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

3 But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.

3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

4 I was crying to the LORD with my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah.

4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

4 I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Interlude

4 With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustains me.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

5 I lie down and sleep, I wake up, because the LORD sustains me.

5 I lay down and slept; I wakened again, for the Lord sustains me.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me round about.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

6 I will not fear multitudes of people, who set themselves against me on every side.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about.

7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God! For You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.

7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

7 Arise, LORD! Deliver me, my God! For you strike the jaw of all my enemies, and you break the teeth of the wicked.

7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.

8 Salvation belongs to the LORD; Your blessing be upon Your people! Selah.

8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

8 Deliverance comes from the LORD! May your blessing be on your people. Interlude To the Director: With stringed instruments. A Davidic Psalm

8 Salvation belongs to the Lord; May Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
