and they set out

מֵֽהַשִּׁטִּ֗ים

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

and came

עַד־

‘aḏ-

to

､ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

hay·yar·dên,

the Jordan ､

ה֖וּא

hū

he

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

the sons

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel ､

וַיָּלִ֥נוּ

way·yā·li·nū

שָׁ֖ם

šām

טֶ֥רֶם

ṭe·rem

. יַעֲבֹֽרוּ׃

ya·‘ă·ḇō·rū.

they crossed over .

וַיְהִ֕י

way·hî

So it was

מִקְצֵ֖ה

miq·ṣêh

שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת

šə·lō·šeṯ

､ יָמִ֑ים

yā·mîm;

days ､

וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ

way·ya·‘aḇ·rū

הַשֹּׁטְרִ֖ים

haš·šō·ṭə·rîm

בְּקֶ֥רֶב

bə·qe·reḇ

– הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

ham·ma·ḥă·neh.

the camp –

וַיְצַוּוּ֮

way·ṣaw·wū

and they commanded

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָעָ֣ם

hā·‘ām

the people ､

､ לֵאמֹר֒

lê·mōr

כִּרְאֽוֹתְכֶ֗ם

kir·’ō·wṯ·ḵem,

אֵ֣ת

’êṯ

-

אֲר֤וֹן

’ă·rō·wn

the ark

בְּרִית־

bə·rîṯ-

of the covenant

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem,

וְהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙

wə·hak·kō·hă·nîm

and the priests

הַלְוִיִּ֔ם

hal·wî·yim,

נֹשְׂאִ֖ים

nō·śə·’îm

אֹת֑וֹ

’ō·ṯōw;

it

וְאַתֶּ֗ם

wə·’at·tem,

תִּסְעוּ֙

tis·‘ū

､ מִמְּק֣וֹמְכֶ֔ם

mim·mə·qō·wm·ḵem,

from your place ､

וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֖ם

wa·hă·laḵ·tem

and go

. אַחֲרָֽיו׃

’a·ḥă·rāw.

after it .

Sanctify yourselves –

כִּ֣י

מָחָ֗ר

יַעֲשֶׂ֧ה

ya·‘ă·śeh

will do

יְהוָ֛ה

בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֖ם

. נִפְלָאֽוֹת׃

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

of the covenant ､

the people .

וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙

way·yiś·’ū

So they took up

אֶת־

’eṯ-

אֲר֣וֹן

the ark

､ הַבְּרִ֔ית

hab·bə·rîṯ,

of the covenant ､

וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū

and went

לִפְנֵ֥י

lip̄·nê

. הָעָֽם׃

hā·‘ām.

the people .

And said

יְהוָה֙

הַזֶּ֗ה

haz·zeh,

אָחֵל֙

I will begin

גַּדֶּלְךָ֔

gad·del·ḵā,

בְּעֵינֵ֖י

bə·‘ê·nê

in the sight

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

יֵֽדְע֔וּן

yê·ḏə·‘ūn,

､ כִּ֗י

kî,

that ､

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

הָיִ֛יתִי

hā·yî·ṯî

עִם־

‘im-

with

､ מֹשֶׁ֖ה

mō·šeh

אֶהְיֶ֥ה

’eh·yeh

[so] I will be

. עִמָּֽךְ׃

‘im·māḵ.

with you .

וְאַתָּ֗ה

wə·’at·tāh,

And You

תְּצַוֶּה֙

tə·ṣaw·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים

hak·kō·hă·nîm,

נֹשְׂאֵ֥י

nō·śə·’ê

אֲרֽוֹן־

the ark

､ הַבְּרִ֖ית

hab·bə·rîṯ

of the covenant ､

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

lê·mōr;

כְּבֹאֲכֶ֗ם

kə·ḇō·’ă·ḵem,

when you have come

עַד־

‘aḏ-

to

קְצֵה֙

qə·ṣêh

the edge

מֵ֣י

mê

of the water

､ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

hay·yar·dên,

of the Jordan ､

בַּיַּרְדֵּ֖ן

bay·yar·dên

in the Jordan

. תַּעֲמֹֽדוּ׃

you shall stand .

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said ､

יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘,

בְּזֹאת֙

bə·zōṯ

תֵּֽדְע֔וּן

tê·ḏə·‘ūn,

כִּ֛י

kî

אֵ֥ל

the God [is]

חַ֖י

ḥay

בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם

bə·qir·bə·ḵem;

וְהוֹרֵ֣שׁ

wə·hō·w·rêš

and without fail

יוֹרִ֣ישׁ

yō·w·rîš

[that] He will drive out

מִ֠פְּנֵיכֶם

mip·pə·nê·ḵem

from before you

אֶת־

’eṯ-

､ הַכְּנַעֲנִ֨י

hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî

the Canaanite ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַחִתִּ֜י

ha·ḥit·tî

the Hittite ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַחִוִּ֗י

ha·ḥiw·wî,

the Hivite ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַפְּרִזִּי֙

hap·pə·riz·zî

the Perizzite ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֔י

hag·gir·gā·šî,

the Girgashite ､

､ וְהָאֱמֹרִ֖י

wə·hā·’ĕ·mō·rî

and the Amorite ､

. וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

wə·hay·ḇū·sî.

and the Jebusite .

､ הִנֵּה֙

hin·nêh

אֲר֣וֹן

’ă·rō·wn

the ark

הַבְּרִ֔ית

hab·bə·rîṯ,

of the covenant of

אֲד֖וֹן

’ă·ḏō·wn

the Lord

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

עֹבֵ֥ר

‘ō·ḇêr

is crossing over

לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם

lip̄·nê·ḵem

. בַּיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

bay·yar·dên.

into the Jordan .

וְעַתָּ֗ה

wə·‘at·tāh,

קְח֤וּ

qə·ḥū

לָכֶם֙

lā·ḵem

שְׁנֵ֣י

šə·nê

עָשָׂ֣ר

‘ā·śār

[and] ten

אִ֔ישׁ

’îš,

מִשִּׁבְטֵ֖י

miš·šiḇ·ṭê

from the tribes

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel ､

. אִישׁ־

’îš-

אֶחָ֥ד

’e·ḥāḏ

אִישׁ־

אֶחָ֖ד

. לַשָּֽׁבֶט׃

laš·šā·ḇeṭ.

for [each] tribe .

､ וְהָיָ֡ה

And it shall come to pass ､

כְּנ֣וֹחַ

kə·nō·w·aḥ

as soon as shall rest

כַּפּ֣וֹת

kap·pō·wṯ

רַגְלֵ֣י

raḡ·lê

of the feet

הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים

hak·kō·hă·nîm

of the priests

נֹשְׂאֵי֩

nō·śə·’ê

אֲר֨וֹן

’ă·rō·wn

the ark

､ יְהוָ֜ה

of Yahweh ､

the Lord

[that] shall be cut off

– מִלְמָ֑עְלָה

from upstream –

וְיַעַמְד֖וּ

and they shall stand

לַעֲבֹ֖ר

the Jordan ､

וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים

and the with priests

the ark

That stood [still]

which came down

מִלְמַ֜עְלָה

[and] rose

נֵד־

מְאֹ֜ד

[באדם]

הָעִיר֙

the city

אֲשֶׁר֙

that [is]

מִצַּ֣ד

– צָֽרְתָ֔ן

ṣā·rə·ṯān,

וְהַיֹּרְדִ֗ים

wə·hay·yō·rə·ḏîm,

so the waters that went down

the Sea

､ הָעֲרָבָ֛ה

hā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh

of the Arabah ､

､ יָם־

yām-

Sea ､

הַמֶּ֖לַח

ham·me·laḥ

the Salt

､ תַּ֣מּוּ

tam·mū

– נִכְרָ֑תוּ

niḵ·rā·ṯū;

[and] were cut off –

וְהָעָ֥ם

wə·hā·‘ām

and the people

עָבְר֖וּ

‘ā·ḇə·rū

נֶ֥גֶד

ne·ḡeḏ

. יְרִיחֽוֹ׃

yə·rî·ḥōw.

וַיַּעַמְד֣וּ

way·ya·‘am·ḏū

הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים

נֹ֠שְׂאֵי

הָאָר֨וֹן

hā·’ā·rō·wn

the ark

בְּרִית־

of the covenant

in the midst

on dry ground ､

עַ֤ד

אֲשֶׁר־

הַגּ֔וֹי

לַעֲבֹ֖ר

la·‘ă·ḇōr

had crossed over
