'In the World' in the Bible

There were tyrants in the world in those days. For after that the children of God had gone in unto the daughters of men and had begotten them children, the same children were the mightiest of the world and men of renown.

These are the kindreds of the sons of Noah, in their generations and nations. And of these came the people that were in the world after the flood.

Then Abimelech exclaimed, "What in the world have you done to us? One of the men might easily have had sexual relations with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!"

But Isaac asked his son, "How in the world did you find it so quickly, my son?" "Because the Lord your God brought it to me," he replied.

In the morning Jacob discovered it was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, "What in the world have you done to me! Didn't I work for you in exchange for Rachel? Why have you tricked me?"

He said to his brothers, "My money was returned! Here it is in my sack!" They were dismayed; they turned trembling one to another and said, "What in the world has God done to us?"

The blessings of thy father were strong: even as the blessings of my elders, after the desire of the highest in the world. And these blessings shall fall on the head of Joseph, and on the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
