'Listen to Me' in the Bible
Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah! Listen to me! You wives of Lamech, hear my words! I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for hurting me.
And Abraham said to them, “If you are willing to grant my dead a [proper] burial, listen to me, and plead with Ephron the son of Zohar for me,
“No, my lord. Listen to me. I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. I give it to you in the presence of my people. Bury your dead.”
and he spoke to Ephron, in the ears of the people of the land, saying, But if only thou wouldst listen to me, I give the money for the field: take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
“My lord, listen to me. The land [you seek] is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that between you and me? So bury your dead.”
"My son," she replied, "let any curse against you fall on me. Just listen to me, then go and get them for me."
So now, my son, listen to me. Flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran,
Then Moses answered, "Look, they won't believe me and they won't listen to me. Instead, they'll say, "The LORD didn't appear to you.'"
And Moses spoke before Yahweh, saying, "Look, the {Israelites} do not listen to me, and how will Pharaoh listen to me, since I [am] {a poor speaker}?"
But Moses said before the Lord, “Look, I am unskilled and inept in speech; how then will Pharaoh listen to me and pay attention to what I say?”
Now listen to me; I will give you some advice, and God be with you. You be the one to represent the people before God and bring their cases to Him.
Now if you will listen to Me and carefully keep My covenant, you will be My own possession out of all the peoples, although all the earth is Mine,
" 'But if you do not listen to me and you do not carry out all these commands,
" 'And if in spite of these [things] you do not listen to me, then I will continue to discipline you seven times for your sins.
" 'And if you go against me [in] hostility and you are not willing to listen to me, then I will add a plague onto you seven times according to your sins.
" 'And if through this you do not listen to me and you go against me in hostility,
Then {he uttered} his oracle, and said, "Stand up, Balak, and hear; listen to me, son of Zippor!
But the Lord was angry with me because of you [and your rebellion at Meribah], and would not listen to me; and the Lord said to me, ‘Enough! Speak to Me no longer about this matter.
When it was told to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Ger'izim, and cried aloud and said to them, "Listen to me, you men of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Listen to me! Each of you should return to your mother's home! May the Lord show you the same kind of devotion that you have shown to your deceased husbands and to me!
David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to men's words, saying, 'Behold, David seeks your hurt?'
If you listen to me, you'll save your life and the life of your son Solomon.

They rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in Yahweh your God, so you shall be established! Believe his prophets, so you shall prosper."
So now, listen to me and return the captives of your brothers whom you have taken captive, for the fierce anger of Yahweh [is] against you."
and said to them, "Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Yahweh, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filthiness out of the holy place.
I will shew thee, listen to me; and what I have seen I will declare;
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.
“Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me;I also will give you my opinion [about Job’s situation] and tell you plainly what I think.’
“Pay attention, Job, listen to me;Keep silent, and I will speak.
“If not [and you have nothing to say], listen to me;Keep silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”
"Hear my words, you wise men, and listen to me, you who know,
"Therefore, listen to me, {people who have sense}: far be it from God {that he should commit wickedness} and that Shaddai {should do wrong}.
"Men of understanding, speak to me! Are any of you men wise? Then listen to me!
I call to you for you will answer me, O God. Listen to me! Hear what I say!
Listen to me, and deliver me quickly. Become a rock of safety for me, a fortified citadel to deliver me;
Come, you children, listen to me;I will teach you to fear the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience].
For the music director; a psalm of David. Listen to me, O God, as I offer my lament! Protect my life from the enemy's terrifying attacks.
Were I to cherish iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not listen to me.
My cry goes to God! Indeed, I cry to God for help, and for him to listen to me.
“Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you—O Israel, if you would listen to Me!
“But My people did not listen to Me;Israel did not obey Me.
“Oh, that My people would listen to Me,That Israel would walk in My ways!
Do not hide your face from me when I am in trouble. Listen to me. When I call to out you, hurry to answer me!
Listen to me because of your loyal love! O Lord, revive me, as you typically do!
O Lord, listen to me! Pay attention to my plea for mercy!
LORD, I call to you, be quick to listen to me when I cry out!
Now then, my sons, listen to meAnd do not depart from (forget) the words of my mouth.
Now therefore, my sons, listen to me,And pay attention to the words of my mouth.
“Now therefore, O sons, listen to me,For blessed [happy, prosperous, to be admired] are they who keep my ways.
Stand up, you complacent women;listen to me.Pay attention to what I say,you overconfident daughters.
Listen to me in silence, coastlands, and let nations renew [their] strength. Let them approach, then let them speak; let us draw near together for judgment.
“Listen to Me,” [says the Lord], “O house of Jacob,And all the remnant of the house of Israel,You who have been carried by Me from your birthAnd have been carried [in My arms] from the womb,
“Listen to Me, you stiff-necked people,You who are far from righteousness (right standing with God).
“Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called;I am He, I am the First, I am the Last.
Listen to Me, O islands and coastlands,And pay attention, you peoples from far away.The Lord has called Me from the womb;From the body of My mother He has named Me.
"Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, who seek Yahweh. Look to [the] rock [from which] you were hewn, and to [the] excavation of [the] pit [from which] you were quarried.
“Listen carefully to Me [says the Lord], O My people,And hear Me, O My nation;For a [divine] law will go forth from Me,And I will quickly establish My justice as a light to the peoples.
“Listen to Me, you who know righteousness (right standing with God),The people in whose heart is My law and instruction;Do not fear the reproach and taunting of man,Nor be distressed at their reviling.
But they did not listen to me or pay any attention to me. They followed the stubborn inclinations of their own wicked hearts. They acted worse and worse instead of better.
However, they wouldn’t listen to Me or pay attention but became obstinate; they did more evil than their ancestors.
But they did not listen to me or pay any attention to me! Each one of them followed the stubborn inclinations of his own wicked heart. So I brought on them all the punishments threatened in the covenant because they did not carry out its terms as I commanded them to do.'"
These evil people, who refuse to listen to Me, who follow the stubbornness of their own hearts, and who have followed other gods to serve and worship—they will be like this underwear, of no use at all.
and you have done evil more than your fathers; for, behold, you walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that you don't listen to me:
Your ancestors, however, did not listen to me or pay any attention to me. They stubbornly refused to pay attention or to respond to any discipline.'
"And it will happen, if you carefully listen to me," {declares} Yahweh, "to bring no burden through the gates of this city on the day of the Sabbath, but to declare holy the day of Sabbath, not to do on it any work,
But if you will not listen to Me and keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load as you come in the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in her gates that cannot be extinguished, and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem.”’”
For thus says the Lord in regard to the house of the king of Judah:“You are [as valuable] to Me as [the green pastures of] Gilead [east of the Jordan]Or as the [plentiful] summit of Lebanon [west of the Jordan],Yet most certainly [if you will not listen to Me] I will make you a wilderness,And uninhabited cities.
But you didn't listen to me," declares the LORD, "so as to provoke me with the idols you make with your hands to your own harm.
And you shall say to them, "Thus says Yahweh: 'If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law that I have set {before you},
"At [the] end of seven years you must let go each one his fellow countryman, the Hebrew who has been sold to you and who has served you six years, and you must let him go free from you." But your ancestors did not listen to me, and they did not incline their ears.
The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, which he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are done. For to this day they do not drink, but obey their father's commandment. But I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you did not listen to Me.
And I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, {I have sent them over and over again}, {saying}, 'Turn back please each one from his evil way, and amend your deeds, and you must not go after other gods to serve them, {so that you may live} on the land that I gave to you and to your ancestors.' But you did not incline your ear and you did not listen to me.
For the descendants of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, have carried out the command of their ancestor that he commanded them, but this people did not listen to me."
Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I tell you, will you not certainly put me to death? Even if I do give you advice, you will not listen to me.”
yet the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you and obey you, since they are not willing to listen to Me and obey Me, for the entire house of Israel is stubborn and obstinate.
But they rebelled against Me and were not willing to listen to Me; they did not throw away the detestable things on which they feasted their eyes, nor did they give up the idols of Egypt.“Then I decided to pour out My wrath on them and finish My anger against them in the land of Egypt.
“As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God, “Go, let everyone serve his idols; but later you shall most certainly listen to Me, and you shall no longer profane My holy name with your gifts and with your idols.
Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Repent [that is, change your way of thinking] and return now from your evil way [of life] and from your evil deeds.”’ But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,” declares the Lord.
After He called the people to Him again, He began saying to them, “Listen [carefully] to Me, all of you, [hear] and understand [what I am saying]:
"Listen to me, all of you, and understand; there is nothing outside a man which by entering in can defile him; but it is what comes from him that defiled him."
Whoever is sprung from God listens to what God says. This is why you do not listen to me: you are not sprung from God."
"I have told you already," he replied, "and you did not listen to me. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also mean to be disciples of his?"
I knew that You always hear Me and listen to Me; but I have said this because of the people standing around, so that they may believe that You have sent Me [and that You have made Me Your representative].”
And he answered, “Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory [the Shekinah, the radiance of God] appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,
And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Brethren, listen to me:
"Brothers, listen to me. Symeon has told how God first looked graciously upon the Gentiles, to take out from among them a people to be called by his name.
[because] you are especially acquainted with both all the customs and controversial questions with respect to the Jews. Therefore I beg [you] to listen to me with patience.
“I wish before God,” replied Paul, “that whether easily or with difficulty, not only you but all who listen to me today might become as I am—except for these chains.”
It is written in the Law, “By men of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, and not even then will they listen to Me,” says the Lord.
I wish you would now listen to a little folly of mine. Please do listen to me!
Listen to me! I, Paul, declare to you that if you are to continue to follow the rite of circumcision, Christ will be no profit to you.
Listen to me, you who say 'To-day or to-morrow we will go to such and such a town, spend a year there, and trade, and make money,'
Listen to me, you rich men, weep and wail for the miseries that are coming upon you!
