'Sabbath Day' in the Bible

And it came to pass, that he was going on the sabbath day through the fields of grain: and his disciples began, as they went, to pull the ears of grain.

And some of the Pharisees said to them: Why are you doing what it is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

And it came to pass, that he went, on the sabbath day, into the house of one of the chief men of the Pharisees, to eat bread; and they watched him.

Then the Jews, as it was the preparation, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for that sabbath day was a great day, besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken down.
