John 9:1-12 - A Man Born Blind Is Given Sight

¹ And passing along, He saw a man blind from his birth. ² And His disciples asked Him, saying, Master, who sinned, this one, or his parents, that he was born blind?

³ Jesus responded, Neither did he nor his parents sin; but that the works of God may be made manifest in him. ⁴ It behooveth us to work the works of Him that sent us, while it is day: the night comes, when no one is able to work. ⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

⁶ Saying these words, He spat on the ground, and made mortar out of the spittle, and besmeared the mortar on his eyes, ⁷ and He said to him; Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is interpreted, Sent). Then he went away, and washed, and came seeing.

⁸ Then the neighbors, and those seeing him previously, because he was a beggar, continued to say, Is not this the one sitting and begging? ⁹ Some said, That he is: others said, No, but he is like him: he said, I am he.

¹⁰ Then they said to him, How then were your eyes opened?

¹¹ He responded, a man called Jesus made mortar and besmeared my eyes, and said, Go to Siloam, and wash. Then having gone away and washed, I looked up.

¹² They said to him, Where is He? He says, I know not.
