Ephesians 4:17-24 - Appeal For New Behavior

¹⁷ This therefore I say and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles, in the vanity of your mind: ¹⁸ Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, by the ignorance that is in them, through the hardness of their hearts: ¹⁹ Who being past feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

²⁰ But ye have not so learned Christ; Since ye have heard him, ²¹ and been taught by him, (as the truth is in Jesus) To put off, ²² concerning your former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt, according to the deceitful desires: ²³ To be renewed in the spirit of your mind; ²⁴ And to put on the new man, which is created after God, in righteousness and true holiness.

¹² Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering: ¹³ Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. ¹⁴ And above all these put on love, which is the bond of perfection: ¹⁵ And the peace of God shall rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body: and be ye thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart unto the Lord. ¹⁷ And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks unto God and the Father through him.
