Ephesians 4:17-24 - Appeal For New Behavior

Ephesians 4:17-24

17 This I say therefore, and charge you in the name of the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, 18 in the vanity of their mind, darkened in their understanding, and alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, by reason of the hardness of their heart: 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to commit all uncleanness with greediness.

20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 if ye have indeed hearkened to Him, and been instructed in Him, as the truth is in Jesus; to put off the old man, 22 which according to your former conversation was corrupted with deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 and to put on the new man, which according to the image of God is created in righteousness, and true holiness.

Colossians 3:12-17

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, bowels of mercy, benignity, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any one has a complaint against any: even as Christ hath forgiven you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these put on love, which is the band of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God preside in your hearts, to which ye are also called as united in one body: and be thankful for it. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another by psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude singing in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to our God and Father by Him.
