Jeremiah 36:19-26 - Jehoiakim Burns The Scroll

19 And the rulers said to Baruch, Go hide yourselves, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are. 20 And they went in to the king into the court. But they laid up the roll in the room of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king. 21 So the king sent Jehudi to bring the roll. And he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the rulers who stood beside the king. 22 And the king sat in the winter house in the ninth month; also with the burning fire-pan before him. 23 And it happened when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the scribe's knife and threw it into the fire in the fire-pan, until all the scroll was burned up in the fire-pan. 24 Yet the king and all his servants who heard these words were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments. 25 But Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had pleaded with the king that he should not burn the scroll, but he would not hear them. 26 And the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But Jehovah hid them.
