John 11:28-37 - Jesus Weeps

²⁸ And when she had said this, she went away, and called Mary, her sister, secretly, saying: The Teacher has come, and calls for you.

²⁹ When she heard it, she rose quickly and came to him. ³⁰ Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was in the place where Martha met him. ³¹ Then the Jews that were with her in the house, and were comforting her, seeing Mary rise and go out quickly, followed her, saying: She is going to the tomb to weep there.

³² Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him: Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died.

³³ Then, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews that came with her weeping also, he was greatly moved in spirit, and troubled; ³⁴ and he said: Where have you laid him? They said to him: Lord, come and see.

³⁵ Jesus wept.

³⁶ Then said the Jews: See how he loved him! ³⁷ And some of them said: Could not he, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have caused that even this man should not have died?
