Matthew 10:34-39 - Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness

³⁴ Think not that I came to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. ³⁵ For I came to set a man at variance with his father, and a daughter with her mother, and a bride with her motherinlaw; ³⁶ and they of a mans own household will be his foes.

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me; ³⁸ and he that doth not take his cross, and follow me, is not worthy of me. ³⁹ He that findeth his life will lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake will find it.

⁴⁹ I came to cast fire upon the earth; and what do I wish, if it hath been already kindled? ⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how is my soul troubled, till it be accomplished! ⁵¹ Think ye that I came to give peace in the earth? I tell you, nay, but rather division. ⁵² For from this time forth five in one house will be divided, three against two, and two against three.

⁵³ They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against mother; the motherinlaw against her daughterinlaw, and the daughterinlaw against her motherinlaw.
