Acts 2:1-13 - Pentecost And The Coming Of The Holy Spirit

1 And on the day of Pentecost they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came out of heaven a sound, as of a rushing mighty wind; and it filled the whole house where they were sitting; 3 and there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributing themselves; and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, even as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound took place, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 And they were amazed, and marveled, saying, Behold, are not all these who speak Galilaeans? 8 and how is it that we every one hear them in our own language, wherein we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, Judaea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and Romans who sojourn here, both Jews and Proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabianshow is it that we hear them speaking in our tongues the wonderful works of God? 12 And they were all amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another, What can this mean? 13 Others making sport of it, said, They are full of new wine.
