Acts 2:1-13 - Pentecost And The Coming Of The Holy Spirit

¹ And on the day of Pentecost they were all together in one place. ² And suddenly there came out of heaven a sound, as of a rushing mighty wind; and it filled the whole house where they were sitting; ³ and there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributing themselves; and one sat upon each of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, even as the Spirit gave them utterance.

⁵ Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. ⁶ And when this sound took place, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every one heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ And they were amazed, and marveled, saying, Behold, are not all these who speak Galilaeans? ⁸ and how is it that we every one hear them in our own language, wherein we were born? ⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, Judaea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and Romans who sojourn here, both Jews and Proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabianshow is it that we hear them speaking in our tongues the wonderful works of God? ¹² And they were all amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another, What can this mean? ¹³ Others making sport of it, said, They are full of new wine.
