Matthew 13:1-9 - The Parable Of The Sower

¹ On that day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the sea. ² And many multitudes came together to him, so that he went into a ship and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

³ And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying: Behold, the sower went out to sow. ⁴ And as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way: and the birds came and ate them up. ⁵ Others fell on stony places, where they had not much earth; and they immediately sprung up, because they had no depth of earth. ⁶ But when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. ⁷ Others fell among thorns, and the thorns sprung up and choked them. ⁸ Others fell upon good ground, and brought forth fruit, some a hundred, some fifty. some thirty. ⁹ He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

¹ And again he began to teach by the sea; and a great multitude came together to him, so that he went into a ship, and sat in the sea: and the whole multitude was on the land near the sea. ² And he taught them many things in parables, and said to them in his teaching: ³ Hear; Behold, the sower went forth to sow; ⁴ and it came to pass, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside, and the birds came and ate it up. ⁵ Other seed fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth: and it immediately sprung up, because it had no depth of earth. ⁶ And when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. ⁷ And other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it produced no fruit. ⁸ And other seed fell in the good ground, and produced fruit that grew up and increased, and produced, one thirty, one sixty, and one a hundred. ⁹ And he said: He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

⁴ And when a great multitude had assembled, and they were coming to him from every city, he spoke by a parable: ⁵ The sower went forth to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and it was trodden down, and the birds of the air ate it up. ⁶ And some fell upon the rock; and when it had sprung up, it withered, because it had no moisture. ⁷ And some fell in the midst of thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. ⁸ And other seed fell into good ground, and sprung up, and produced fruit a hundred-fold. When he had said these things, he cried: He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
