Reference: Judas Barsabas

Fausets

A leading man among the brethren at Jerusalem (Ac 15:22). A "prophet" (Ac 15:32). Along with Silas accompanied Paul and Barnabas to deliver the epistle concerning the obligations of Gentiles, from the council at Jerusalem to the church at Antioch, and to confirm the same by word of mouth (Ac 15:27). Judas accordingly with Silas under the Spirit "exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them" (Ac 15:32). After tarrying there a space "they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles" (the Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, Alexandrinus manuscripts omit Ac 15:34). Probably Judas was brother of Joseph Barsabas (Ac 1:23).
