They kept saying, "This is Jesus, the son of Joseph, isn't it, whose father and mother we know? So how can he say, "I have come down from heaven'?"

Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said, "How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?"

For the high priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who found out where he was should let them know, so that they might arrest him.

I have told you these things [now], so that when their time comes, you will remember that I told you about them. I did not say these things to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
