Now all this happened so that might be fulfilled that which was spoken of the LORD by the prophet, saying,

And the scribes and the chief priests heard. And they sought how they might destroy Him. For they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His doctrine.

And at the season he sent a servant to the vinedressers, so that he might receive from the vinedressers the fruit of the vineyard.

And after two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by craft and kill Him.

For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and be given to the poor. And they were incensed with her.

And when they heard, they were glad and promised to give him silver. And he sought how he might conveniently betray Him.

And He went forward a little and fell on the ground. And He prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.

And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James and Salome, had bought sweet spices so that they might come and anoint Him.

so that you might know the certainty of those things in which you have been instructed.

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what kind of greeting this might be.

And they could not find what they might do, for all the people were hanging on Him, listening.

And they watched and sent forth spies, pretending themselves to be righteous men, so that they might seize upon a word of His, that they might deliver Him in this way to the power and authority of the governor.

But they pressed on him, with loud voices, requesting that He might be crucified. And their voices and those of the chief priests prevailed.

And as they led Him away, they laid hold on one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country. And they laid the cross on him, that he might carry it after Jesus.

And He said to them, What things? And they said to Him, The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a man, a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,

This one came as a witness, to bear witness concerning the Light, so that all might believe through him.

But I do not receive testimony from man, but these things I say so that you might be saved.

Therefore when Jesus perceived that they would come and take Him by force, that they might make Him a king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain alone by Himself.

They said this, tempting Him so that they might have reason to accuse Him. But bending down, Jesus wrote on the ground with His finger, not appearing to hear.

Jesus answered, Neither has this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God might be revealed in him.

And he answered and said, Who is He, Lord, that I might believe on Him?

And Jesus said, I have come into this world for judgment, that they who do not see might see, and that they who see might be made blind.

Then from that day they took counsel together that they might kill Him.

And all the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commands, that if anyone knew where He was, he should make it known so that they might seize Him.

Then a great crowd of the Jews learned that He was there. And they did not come for Jesus' sake only, but also that they might see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus to death also,

so that the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

Simon Peter therefore signaled to him to ask whom it might be of whom He spoke.

And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens you might believe.

And now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world that they might have My joy fulfilled in them.

And I sanctify Myself for their sakes, so that they also might be sanctified in truth.

(that the word might be fulfilled which He spoke, "Of those whom You have given Me, I have lost not one of them").

Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the praetorium. And it was early. And they did not go into the praetorium, that they should not be defiled, and that they might eat the Passover.

(that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which He spoke signifying what death He was about to die).

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight so that I might not be delivered to the Jews. But now My kingdom is not from here.

Then he delivered Him up to them that He might be crucified. And they took Jesus and led Him away.

Therefore they said among themselves, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to find whose it shall be (that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says, "They parted my garments among them, and for my garment they cast lots"). Therefore the soldiers did these things.
