Then He left them, went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.

“Listen to another parable: There was a man, a landowner, who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower. He leased it to tenant farmers and went away.

He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

“In the middle of the night there was a shout: ‘Here’s the groom! Come out to meet him.’

“The sensible ones answered, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Go instead to those who sell, and buy oil for yourselves.’

“Not during the festival,” they said, “so there won’t be rioting among the people.”

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He told the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

When he had gone out to the gateway, another woman saw him and told those who were there, “This man was with Jesus the Nazarene!”

After a little while those standing there approached and said to Peter, “You certainly are one of them, since even your accent gives you away.”

When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling for Elijah!”

Many women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and ministered to Him were there, looking on from a distance.

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were seated there, facing the tomb.

Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it.

Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead. In fact, He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see Him there.’ Listen, I have told you.”

Then Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see Me there.”

And He said to them, “Let’s go on to the neighboring villages so that I may preach there too. This is why I have come.”

So many people gathered together that there was no more room, not even in the doorway, and He was speaking the message to them.

But some of the scribes were sitting there, thinking to themselves:

While He was reclining at the table in Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were also guests with Jesus and His disciples, because there were many who were following Him.

Now He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a paralyzed hand.

Now a large herd of pigs was there, feeding on the hillside.

And He gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs, and the herd of about 2,000 rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned there.

He went away from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him.

So He was not able to do any miracles there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

Then He said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place.

If any place does not welcome you and people refuse to listen to you, when you leave there, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

but many saw them leaving and recognized them. People ran there by land from all the towns and arrived ahead of them.

When they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they have washed. And there are many other customs they have received and keep, like the washing of cups, jugs, copper utensils, and dining couches.)

He got up and departed from there to the region of Tyre and Sidon. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it, but He could not escape notice.

In those days there was again a large crowd, and they had nothing to eat. He summoned the disciples and said to them,

About 4,000 men were there. He dismissed them

Then He said to them, “I assure you: There are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God come in power.”

“Don’t stop him,” said Jesus, “because there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name who can soon afterward speak evil of Me.

He set out from there and went to the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Then crowds converged on Him again and, as He usually did, He began teaching them once more.

and told them, “Go into the village ahead of you. As soon as you enter it, you will find a young donkey tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here.

and some of those standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the donkey?”

After seeing in the distance a fig tree with leaves, He went to find out if there was anything on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.

There were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and dying, left no offspring.

Then the scribe said to Him, “You are right, Teacher! You have correctly said that He is One, and there is no one else except Him.

For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

“Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah! Look—there!’ do not believe it!

“Not during the festival,” they said, “or there may be rioting among the people.”

He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there.”
