He said to them, "So you do not understand, either? Do you not see how nothing outside a man can defile him by entering him?

For everyone will be salted with fire. [Note: This meant either the suffering "salt" of fiery trials (the sacrifices of verses 43-47 or the punishing "salt" of being thrown into a fiery hell (verse 45-48)].

Jesus said to them, "Does not this show that you are wrong, and do not understand either the Scriptures or the power of God?

They returned [to Jerusalem] and told the others, but they did not believe them either.
