And his disciples said in answer, How will it be possible to get enough bread for these men here in a waste place?

seven, said they. then he order'd the people to sit down on the ground: and taking the seven loaves, he gave thanks, then broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute among the people, which they accordingly did.

And they had a few small fishes, and having blessed, he said to set them also before them;

He groaned and sighed deeply in His spirit and said, “Why does this generation demand a sign? I assure you and most solemnly say to you, no sign will be given to this generation!”

And he said to them, Take care to be on the watch against the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.

And they said to one another, We have no bread.

Though you have eyes, do you not see? And though you have ears, do you not hear and listen [to what I have said]? And do you not remember,

when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They answered, “Twelve.”

And they came to Beth-saida. And they took a blind man to him, requesting him to put his hands on him.

And he took the blind man by the hand, and went with him out of the town; and when he had put water from his mouth on his eyes, and put his hands on him, he said, Do you see anything?

And he sent him away to his house, and said: Neither go into the village, nor tell it to any one in the village.

Then Jesus and his disciples went away to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he questioned his disciples and said to them, "Who do people say that I am?"

They said, "John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and still others, one of the prophets."

He was stating the matter plainly [not holding anything back]. Then Peter took Him aside and began to reprimand Him.

And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

And they did not forget what he said, but discussed with one another what he meant by the rising from the dead.

And he said unto them, Elijah indeed cometh first, and restoreth all things: and how is it written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be set at nought?

And he said, What are you questioning them about?

And when he may take him, he lacerates him: and he froths, and gnashes his teeth, and pines away. And I said to thy disciples, that they should cast him out; and they were not able.

Then Jesus, seeing that an increasing crowd was running towards Him, rebuked the foul spirit, and said to it, "Dumb and deaf spirit, *I* command you, come out of him and never enter into him again."

But they said nothing: because they had had an argument between themselves on the way, about who was the greatest.

When indoors the disciples began to question Jesus again about this, and he said:

And they took to him little children, so that he might put his hands on them: and the disciples said sharp words to them.

Now as Jesus was starting out on his way, someone ran up to him, fell on his knees, and said, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who are wealthy [and cling to possessions and status as security] to enter the kingdom of God!”

They were completely and utterly astonished, and said to Him, “Then who can be saved [from the wrath of God]?”

"Remember," said Peter to Him, "that we forsook everything and have become your followers."

"See," He said, "we are going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the High Priests and the Scribes. They will condemn Him to death, and will hand Him over to the Gentiles;

James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.”

But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

When they heard this the ten began to be indignant at James and John, so Jesus called them to him and said:

Calling them to Himself, Jesus said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their powerful men exercise authority over them [tyrannizing them].

And when it came to his ears that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he gave a cry, and said, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.

And Jesus stood still, and said, Call ye him. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good cheer: rise, he calleth thee.

As they came near to Jerusalem, about Bethphage and Bethany, by the mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, and said to them:

and said to them, "Go into the village before you, and right away [as you] enter into it you will find a colt tied, on which no one [has] ever sat. Untie it and bring [it].

and seeing a fig-tree at a distance, with leaves, He went to see if He might find any thing upon it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves; (for the time of gathering figs was not yet come:) And Jesus spake and said unto it,

And he taught, and said unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? but ye have made it a den of robbers.

Then the high priests and the scribes heard of this, and they kept looking for some way to destroy Him, for they were afraid of Him, for everybody was swept off his feet at what He said.
