{he will dwell} [in] desolate cities, in houses that they should not inhabit, which are destined for rubble.


“You have taken a firm hold on me and have shriveled me up,
It has become a witness [against me];
And my leanness [and infirmity] rises up [as evidence] against me,
It testifies to my face [about my guilt].

They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.

And, he that voucheth for me is on high. My friends are, they who scorn me, Unto GOD, hath mine eye shed tears: -

Thou hast withholden their hearts from understanding, therefore shall they not be set up on high.

But he hath made me a byword of the people; And they spit in my face.

And the righteous layeth hold on his way, And the clean of hands addeth strength, And -- dumb are they all.

They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.

Round about terrified him have terrors, And they have scattered him -- at his feet.

“He is torn from the security of his tent,
And they march him before the king of terrors.

They who are none of his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone shall be showered upon his habitation:

They thrust him from light unto darkness, And from the habitable earth cast him out.

They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.

Come in do His troops together, And they raise up against me their way, And encamp round about my tent.

He has taken my brothers far away from me; they have seen my fate and have become strange to me.

They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

and even after they corrupt my skin, yet this: in my flesh I shall see God,

Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?

As a dream he fleeth, and they find him not, And he is driven away as a vision of the night,
