“You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your towns which the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

He appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city.



"You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your towns which the LORD your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. "You shall not distort justice; you shall not be partial, and you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.


then his father and mother shall seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gateway of his hometown.

“You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your towns which the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

So Hamor and his son Shechem came to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city, saying,

These are the things which you should do: speak the truth to one another; judge with truth and judgment for peace in your gates.

“You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your towns which the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens.

Choose wise and discerning and experienced men from your tribes, and I will appoint them as your heads.’

These also are sayings of the wise.
To show partiality in judgment is not good.
