Luke 21:1 (show verse)

He saw rich men putting their gifts into the treasury.

Luke 21:2 (show verse)

Then he saw a poor widow putting in two small coins.

Luke 21:3 (show verse)

I tell you a truth, he said: This poor widow gave more than all of them.

Luke 21:4 (show verse)

They all gave out of their surplus but she gave out of her poverty. She gave all that she had for living expenses.

Luke 21:5 (show verse)

Some spoke of how wonderful the temple was. How it was adorned with beautiful stones and offerings, Jesus replied:

Concerning these things you see, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Luke 21:7 (show verse)

They asked him: Teacher, when would these things take place? What will be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?

Luke 21:8 (show verse)

He said: Take heed that you are not led astray. Many will come in my name, saying, I am he but the time is not at hand. Do not follow them.

Luke 21:9 (show verse)

When you hear of wars and disturbances do not be terrified. These things must occur first. The end is not immediate.

Luke 21:10 (show verse)

Then he said: Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

Luke 21:11 (show verse)

There will be great earthquakes. There will be famines and pestilences in various places. There shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.

Luke 21:12 (show verse)

Even before all these things, they will capture you, and persecute you. You will be delivered to synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake.

Luke 21:13 (show verse)

It will give you an opportunity to witness.

Luke 21:14 (show verse)

Do not think about what you will say before it happens.

Luke 21:15 (show verse)

I will give you ability to talk and words of wisdom, which your adversaries shall not be able to resist or refute.

Luke 21:16 (show verse)

Parent, brothers and sisters and friends will turn you over and cause you to be put to death.

Luke 21:17 (show verse)

Men will hate you because of my name.

Luke 21:18 (show verse)

Yet not a hair of your head will perish.

Luke 21:19 (show verse)

You will gain your lives because of your endurance.

Luke 21:20 (show verse)

When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies you will know that desolation is near.

Luke 21:21 (show verse)

Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the midst of her leave. And let no one from the country enter.

Luke 21:22 (show verse)

These are days of vengeance! All things written will be fulfilled.

Luke 21:23 (show verse)

Woe to those who are pregnant and those who nurse a child in those days! There will be great distress upon the land, and wrath to this people.

Luke 21:24 (show verse)

They will be killed by the edge of the sword. Some will be led captive into all the nations. The people of the nations will tread down Jerusalem until the time of the Nations is fulfilled.

Luke 21:25 (show verse)

There will be signs in sun and moon and stars. The earth will experience distress of nations in disarray for the roaring of the sea and the waves.

Luke 21:26 (show verse)

Men will faint out of fear for expectation of the things coming on the world. The powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

Luke 21:27 (show verse)

Then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Luke 21:28 (show verse)

When these things begin to happen lift up your heads because your redemption draws near.

Luke 21:29 (show verse)

He told them an illustration: Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.

Luke 21:30 (show verse)

When they produce leaves you know that summer is near.

Luke 21:31 (show verse)

Even so, when you see these things coming to pass, know that the kingdom of God is near!

Truly I say to you, this generation shall not pass away, till all things are accomplished.

Luke 21:33 (show verse)

Heaven and earth will pass away: but my words will not pass away.

Luke 21:34 (show verse)

Be awake so your hearts are not weighed down. Do not allow the weight of worldly involvement, drunkenness, and cares of this life be a snare when that day suddenly comes.

Luke 21:35 (show verse)

It will come as a surprise to all who dwell on the face of the earth.

Luke 21:36 (show verse)

Be on the watch all the time. Pray for the strength to escape all these things in order to stand before the Son of man.

Luke 21:37 (show verse)

He taught in the temple every day and he stayed on the Mount of Olives at night.

Luke 21:38 (show verse)

The people came early in the morning to hear him in the temple.
