Yet if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace.

In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word;

The Pharisees came, testing him, and saying, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?" He answered, and said, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall join to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?'read more.
So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart." They asked him, "Why then did Moses command us to give her a certificate of divorce, and divorce her?" He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so. I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery."

but I tell you that everyone who puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.

Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them; and those who are ill-treated, since you are also in the body.

Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them.

Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man's religion is worthless.

Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice.
