God said: Let the waters be filled with many kinds of living beings, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.

Then Jehovah God formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to let him name them. Whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

Noah built an altar to Jehovah and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.

The flowers appear on the earth. The time of singing birds has come. The voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

Even storks know when it is time to return. Mourning doves, swallows (swifts), and cranes know when it is time to migrate. But my people do not know that I, Jehovah, am urging them to return.

If you are offering a bird as a burnt offering, it must be a dove or a pigeon.

It is written in God's law that every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to God. (Exodus 13:1, 2)

He is the one who gives food to animals and to young ravens when they call out.
