But I would not have you ignorant, brothers, about those who are falling asleep. You must not sorrow like other men, who have no hope. For if we really believe that Jesus died and rose again, so even so will God through Jesus bring with him those also who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God will descend from heaven. Then the dead in Christ will rise first. And afterwards we who are alive, who remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. So comfort one another with these words.
For, with me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write, Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord from henceforth! Yea, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, For their deeds do follow them."
Jesus answered him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will understand it later."
"Peace I leave with you. My own peace I give to you. It is not the world's 'Peace' I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more, Nor will there be mourning, Nor crying, nor pain any more. Because the first things have passed away."
For he must rule until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is Death.
"I am giving them eternal life, and they shall never perish, nor shall any one snatch them out of my hand. "My Father who has given them to me is stronger than all, and no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you have been sealed for the day of redemption.
For I count as nothing what we now suffer, in comparison with the glory which will soon be unveiled to us.
I will return and will take you to be with me, so that where I am you may be also.
If we live, we live unto our Lord; if we die, we die unto our Lord. So then, whether we live or die, we belong to our Lord.
