And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife and thy two daughters who are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

Let my soul not enter into their secret; nor let my honour join their assembly; for in their anger they slew a man, and in their own will they dug down a wall.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause hiding behind many to wrest judgment;

and when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee, thou shalt smite them and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them nor show mercy unto them. Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. For they will turn away thy son from following me that they may serve other gods; and the anger of the LORD will be kindled upon you and destroy thee suddenly.

Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses without turning aside to the right hand or to the left that ye not enter in among these Gentiles that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them, but cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.read more.
For the LORD has driven out from before you great and strong Gentiles; and until now no one has been able to stand before your face. One man of you has chased a thousand; for the LORD your God, he himself has fought for you, as he has promised you. Therefore take heed for your souls that ye love the LORD your God. Because if ye do in any wise go back and cleave unto the remnant of these Gentiles that remain among you and shall make marriages with them and go in unto them and they to you, know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no longer drive out any of these Gentiles from before you, but they shall be snares and traps unto you and scourges in your sides and thorns in your eyes until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.

You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, in which ye dwelt; nor shall you do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I bring you; neither shall ye walk in their statutes.

And ye shall not walk in the practices of the Gentiles which I shall cast out before you; for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

And he spoke unto the congregation, saying, Depart from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs lest peradventure ye be consumed in all their sins.

But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall come to pass that those whom ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes and thorns in your sides and shall afflict you in the land in which ye dwell.

And the angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim and said, I brought you up out of Egypt and caused you to enter into the land which I swore unto your fathers, and I said, I will never break my covenant with you as long as ye make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; to the contrary, ye shall throw down their altars, but ye have not heard my voice; why have ye done this? Therefore, I also said, I will not drive them out from before you, but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

keep thyself from being snared by following them, after they are destroyed from before thee; enquire not after their gods, saying, After the manner that these Gentiles served their gods, even so will I do likewise.

but those of Belial shall all be as thorns to be chased away, whom no one takes with the hand;

should we again break thy commandments and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? Would thou not be angry with us until thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escape?

Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.

In whose eyes the vile person is not esteemed; but he honours those that fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt and does not change.

I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with hypocrites.

Do not catch me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbours, but evil is in their hearts.

I have hated those that regard lying vanities; but I wait in the LORD.

When thou didst see a thief, then thou didst consent with him and hast been partaker with adulterers.

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

Remove thy way far from her, and do not come near the door of her house,

Forsake that which is foolish and live and go in the way of understanding.

He that tills his land shall be satisfied with bread, but he that follows vain persons is void of understanding.

He that walks with wise men shall be wise, but the companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Go from the presence of the foolish man when thou dost not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

The evil man flatters his neighbour and leads him into the way that is not good.

It is better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly.

He that goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flatters with his lips.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he that keeps his soul shall be far from them.

Do not eat the bread of anyone who has an evil eye, neither desire his dainty foods;

Do not be envious of evil men, neither desire to be with them.

Whosoever keeps the law is a wise son, but he that is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases, but the righteous shall see their fall.

Thy princes are rebellious and companions of thieves; every one loves bribes and follows after rewards; they do not hear the fatherless in judgment, neither does the cause of the widow come unto them.

Then I said, Woe is me! for I am dead because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of the hosts.

For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

Withhold thy foot from being unshod and thy throat from thirst; but thou didst say, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them I will go.

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men that I might leave my people and go from them! for they are all adulterers, a congregation of rebels.

I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, nor did I become puffed up by reason of thy prophecy; I sat alone because thou hast filled me with indignation.

Flee out of the midst of Babylon and deliver each one his soul that ye not perish because of her iniquity, for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render unto her a recompense.
