And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters who are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

O my soul, come not thou into their secret; to their assembly, my honor, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they digged down a wall.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:

And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee, thou shalt smite them and utterly destroy them, thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them: Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give to his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take to thy son. For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside from it to the right hand or to the left; That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves to them: But cleave to the LORD your God, as ye have done to this day.read more.
For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you to this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God. Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave to the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and associate with them, and they with you: Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.

After the doings of the land of Egypt in which ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nations which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

And he spoke to the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.

But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be prickles in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall harass you in the land in which ye dwell.

And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to depart from Egypt, and have brought you to the land which I swore to your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this? Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.

Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they are destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldst thou not be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.

In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoreth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.

When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a door-keeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

Depart from me, ye evil-doers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

A violent man enticeth his neighbor, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainties:

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

He who keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come to them.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of way-faring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.

Flee from the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD'S vengeance; he will render to her a recompense.

Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

And because iniquity will abound, the love of many will become cold.

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Your boasting is not good. Know ye not, that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

Be not deceived: Evil communications corrupt good manners.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received from us.

Impose hands hastily on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing gain to be godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

And delivered just Lot, grieved with the habitual lewdness of the wicked:

I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and that thou canst not bear them who are evil; and thou hast tried them who say they are apostles, and are not; and hast found them liars:

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
