And she laid his garment by her until his lord came home. And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew bondman that thou hast brought to us came in to me to mock me; and it came to pass as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled forth. And it came to pass when his lord heard the words of his wife which she spoke to him, saying, After this manner did thy bondman to me, that his wrath was kindled. And Joseph's lord took him and put him into the tower-house, the place where the king's prisoners were confined; and he was there in the tower-house.
And Joseph remembered the dreams that he had dreamt of them; and he said to them, Ye are spies: to see the exposed places of the land ye are come. And they said to him, No, my lord; but to buy food are thy servants come. We are all one man's sons; we are honest: thy servants are not spies.read more.
And he said to them, No; but to see the exposed places of the land are ye come. But at the last two false witnesses came forward and said, He said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and in three days build it.
And the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebub, and, By the prince of the demons he casts out demons.
And they led away Jesus to the high priest. And there come together to him all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. And Peter followed him at a distance, till he was within the court of the high priest's palace; and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself in the light of the fire. And the chief priests and the whole sanhedrim sought testimony against Jesus to cause him to be put to death, and did not find any.read more.
For many bore false witness against him, and their testimony did not agree. And some began to spit upon him, and cover up his face, and buffet him, and say to him, Prophesy; and the officers struck him with the palms of their hands.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We have found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king.
They answered and said to him, If this man were not an evildoer, we should not have delivered him up to thee.
Then they suborned men, saying, We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.
whom Jason has received; and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying, that there is another king, Jesus.
crying, Israelites, help! this is the man who teaches all everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place, and has brought Greeks too into the temple, and profaned this holy place.
