The love of God was revealed to us by his sending his only Son into the world, that we might find Life through him.
Moreover, our eyes have seen--and we are testifying to the fact--that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
His love is seen in this--not in our having loved God, but in his loving us and sending his Son to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

That they all may be one--that as thou, Father, art in union with us--and so the world may believe that thou hast sent me as thy Messenger.
