For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the fish, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and raised on the third day.

And as they were returning in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him, and on the third day he shall be raised; and they were grieved exceedingly.

And coming down from the mountain he charged them to tell no man what they had seen, till the Son of man should have risen from the dead.

And they were on the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went before them; and they were amazed, and afraid, as they followed him. And again taking the twelve aside, he told them the things that were about to befall him; Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the gentiles, and they will mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him, and after three days he shall rise again.

AND Jesus said to them, You will all be offended; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd and the sheep shall be scattered;

and behold, two men conversed with him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appearing in glory spoke of his departure which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it. Then the Jews said to him, Forty-six years was this temple being built, and will you raise it in three days? But he spoke of the temple of his body.read more.
When, therefore, he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus spoke.

Jesus knew that they wished to ask him, and said to them, Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this that I said, A little while and you shall not see me, and again a little while and you shall see me? I tell you most truly, that you shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall become joy. For when a woman is in labor she has pain, because her time has come; but when she has borne the child she no longer remembers the distress, because of joy that a man is born into the world. And you therefore now indeed have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your hearts shall rejoice, and your joy no one shall take from you.
