Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, wherein the Holy Spirit has set you as overseers, to shepherd the assembly of God, which he has purchased with the blood of his own.
shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily;
Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for they watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this would be unprofitable for you.
But I beseech you, brethren, to consider those who create divisions and occasions of falling, contrary to the doctrine which ye have learnt, and turn away from them.
The overseer then must be irreproachable, husband of one wife, sober, discreet, decorous, hospitable, apt to teach;
And the things thou hast heard of me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, such as shall be competent to instruct others also.
Give heed to thyself and to the teaching; continue in them; for, doing this, thou shalt save both thyself and those that hear thee.
But we beg you, brethren, to know those who labour among you, and take the lead among you in the Lord, and admonish you, and to regard them exceedingly in love on account of their work. Be in peace among yourselves.
Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such in honour;
Let the elders who take the lead among the saints well be esteemed worthy of double honour, specially those labouring in word and teaching;
But I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the first-fruits of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the saints for service,) that ye should also be subject to such, and to every one joined in the work and labouring.
So also the Lord has ordained to those that announce the glad tidings to live of the glad tidings.
And in the same house abide, eating and drinking such things as they have; for the workman is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.
Let him that is taught in the word communicate to him that teaches in all good things.
for the scripture says, Thou shalt not muzzle an ox that treadeth out corn, and, The workman is worthy of his hire.
But I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in prayers for me to God;
and for me in order that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the glad tidings,
for I know that this shall turn out for me to salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;
Pray for us: for we persuade ourselves that we have a good conscience, in all things desirous to walk rightly.
Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such in honour; because for the sake of the work he drew near even to death, venturing his life that he might fill up what lacked in your ministration toward me.
and my temptation, which was in my flesh, ye did not slight nor reject with contempt; but ye received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.
Remember your leaders who have spoken to you the word of God; and considering the issue of their conversation, imitate their faith.
And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, to the end that thou fulfil it.
But having different gifts, according to the grace which has been given to us, whether it be prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; or service, let us occupy ourselves in service; or he that teaches, in teaching; or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, in simplicity; he that leads, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness.
But there are distinctions of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are distinctions of services, and the same Lord; and there are distinctions of operations, but the same God who operates all things in all.read more.
But to each the manifestation of the Spirit is given for profit. For to one, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; and to a different one faith, in the power of the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healing in the power of the same Spirit; and to another operations of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; and to a different one kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues. But all these things operates the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each in particular according as he pleases.
But to each one of us has been given grace according to the measure of the gift of the Christ.
For ye have been called to liberty, brethren; only do not turn liberty into an opportunity to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
as to brotherly love, kindly affectioned towards one another: as to honour, each taking the lead in paying it to the other:
Owe no one anything, unless to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any should have a complaint against any; even as the Christ has forgiven you, so also do ye. And to all these add love, which is the bond of perfectness.
But you, may the Lord make to exceed and abound in love toward one another, and toward all, even as we also towards you,
Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;
And this is his commandment, that we believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and that we love one another, even as he has given us commandment.
with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love;
Let us not become vain-glorious, provoking one another, envying one another.
Likewise ye younger, be subject to the elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against the proud, but to the humble gives grace.
But we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, sustain the weak, be patient towards all.
Complain not one against another, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the judge stands before the door.
Wherefore receive ye one another, according as the Christ also has received you to the glory of God.
