When Jesus went into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in- law prostrated with fever. On his taking her hand, the fever left her, and she rose and began to wait upon him.
As soon as they had come out from the Synagogue, they went, with James and John, into the house of Simon and Andrew. Now Simon's mother-in-law was lying ill with fever, and they at once told Jesus about her. Jesus went up to her and, grasping her hand, raised her up; the fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
On leaving the Synagogue, Jesus went into Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a severe attack of fever, and they asked Jesus to cure her.
'Father will be opposed to son and son to father, mother to daughter and daughter to mother, mother-in-law to her daughter-in- law and daughter-in-law to her mother-in-law.'"

His reply, spoken to them all, was: "My mother and my brothers are those who listen to God's teaching and do what it bids."
