Shout for joy, O heavens, and rejoice, O earth,
And break forth into singing, O mountains!
For the Lord has comforted His people
And will have compassion on His afflicted.
The Lord also will be a refuge and a stronghold for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble;
God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable],
A very present and well-proved help in trouble.
For God alone my soul waits in silence;
From Him comes my salvation.

And binds up their wounds [healing their pain and comforting their sorrow].
Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are you who hunger now [for righteousness, actively seeking right standing with God], for you will be [completely] satisfied.
