Then saith Pilate to him, Dost thou not speak to me? dost thou not know that I have power to crucify thee, and that I have power to release thee?

Whom having apprehended, he put him in prison, delivering him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep guard over him; intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people [for execution].

And Agrippa said to Festus, This man might have been discharged, if he had not appealed to Caesar.

Who, after a full examination, would have discharged me, because there was not the least cause found in me for death.
