Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them: But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice. And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.

Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
