For by grace you have been saved through the faith; and this matter is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not by works, lest any one should boast.
Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No; but by the law of faith.
But may I never boast save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
For if Abraham was. justified by works, he has cause for boasting, but not before God. For what says the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness. Now to him that works, the reward is not counted as a favor, but as a debt:
And if the election is by grace, it is no longer by works; otherwise grace is no longer grace.
that no flesh should glory in his presence.
